Why can only Gnomes and Dwarves ride the robot chickens?

Is it a weight issue? Will all the parts go in a different direction if a human or a night elf sits on it?

Is it a height issue? Would it be like an adult trying to ride a child’s bike and their feet hitting the ground?

What’s the problem?

Mechanical chickens are for petting not riding. This is why gnomes can’t trust you with them.

But the Gnomes ride them.

I’d imagine that was the thought process behind it.

All the moving parts pinch the down yonders.

It’s probably something lazy, like they didn’t feel like making the mounted animations work…

Gnomes are racists, they only tolerate the dwarves to avoid the troggs.

They don’t make mechanostriders in adult sizes.

They work fine, you just have to have the gnome rep to be able to buy them. I had my human mage using a mechanostrider in 2005 or so.

I don’t see weight being an issue, a Gnome or Dwarf in Plate would likely weight the same or more than a Human in Cloth.

Because in classic Gnomes and Dwarf stuff is linked together the same way Orc and Troll stuff is Horde. If you grind your rep up to exalted you can use it.

Dunno about gnomes, but hairy, dirty drunks riding sheep is clearly a naughty joke.

You’re talking about after they changed mounts. This change took place during Vanilla, but Blizzard has decided to use the original version of mounts. Each type of mount has it’s own riding training, but they’re 20g each instead of 90g like the general purpose one that came later.

I have no idea. I DO know that I spent several weeks farming rep with Gnomes to get to Exalted and buy my mechanostrider.

What is it that you’re telling me I’m wrong about, through the illustrious Donald Trump?

Since it seems you missed the little blurb after the clip, let me quote it for you:

Well, ok. But are you saying that in Classic I won’t be able to gain Exalted status with gnomes and buy a mechanostrider? Because that would disappoint me.

And thank you for repeating yourself. Again. Perhaps you explained it badly rather than me being too stupid to read.

Are you saying I didn’t have a mechanostrider in Vanilla, or that I can’t have one in Classic?

In the current form, yes.

Mechanostriders are restricted to gnomes and dwarves until Horse Riding, Tiger Riding, Ram Riding and Mechanostrider Piloting are combined into Apprentice/Journeyman Riding.

The cost structure and functionality of Riding and Mounts was changed in patch 1.12. Prior to that patch, Riding was an ability rather than a secondary Profession, and had only one rank. Each faction had its own riding skill (tiger riding, horse riding, mechanostrider piloting, ram riding) and the cost was 100, available at level 40. Exalted reputation was required to learn cross-faction riding skill, but mounts were BoE and purchasable by anyone. This meant that characters who were PvP rank 3 or higher could pass on the 10% discount directly to other characters by buying the mount for them. This is no longer possible because all mounts are now BoP, and the majority of the cost is built into the Riding skill training (which is no longer faction-specific) rather than the cost of the mount.

You could have had one in Vanilla during the final patch before The Burning Crusade. I linked the Classic Wowhead page for a blue mechanostrider earlier, it clearly says on the item,
“Races: Dwarf, Gnome”

Even if you buy one at exalted, it will give you an error when you try to use it.

Due to years of being denied riding on stuff around azeroth, Gnomes decided that you must be UNDER this motions slightly above head tall to ride the striders.

No you didn’t.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Night Elves and Humans can’t ride Mechanostriders. And Tauren can’t ride skeletal horses or raptors. This wasn’t changed until Wrath.

shrugs Ok, I stand corrected. I know I have a full selection of colors of mechanostriders I bought with my human in Kharanos, but perhaps it was much later than I thought.

One more reason why it’s important not to stand too adamantly on our memories, as they can be faulty.

Hopefully the devs know those restrictions existed.
