Im actually just throwing a number cuz I have no idea how many times they can do it. But i notice it hard on characters who have no mobility at all.
Sorry but melee complaint threads about caster mobility go right into the “lol wut” file.
?? if you have problems against a mage as a dk and you aren’t playing blood you are playing your class wrong or are severely undergeared.
Why would you play blood in pvp?
Shimmer allows back to back blinking on a 20 second recharge (normal Blink has 15 sec cooldown) but it doesn’t break you out of stuns and it’s a talent slot you give up. Pretty fair.
Arcane can Shimmer/Blink into Displacement (to reset the cooldown of the former) and then Shimmer/Blink again so that must be what you witnessed?
For a class that moves slowly, has no stuns, and only has Blink as a mobility option, which is weaker than any pebble in the mage’s path, doesn’t work as intended on stairs or in water… I don’t get the complaint?
lol was thinking the same thing. DK is mage kryptonite . Heartstop aura and delirium are brutal .
Because it’s amazing in PvP.
I did it near the end of WoD and I felt unstoppable.
Because if you aren’t mages are trivial, so I was giving you the benefit of doubt.

Shimmer → Shimmer → Displacement → Shimmer
But take heart… I think both Displacement and the second blink from Shimmer are going away in the pre-patch.
So in just 2 or 3 weeks mages will be back to having just one blink.
Mages be slippery as hell even without shimmer …
catch us if you can
good luck !
im so confused someone was saying theres a cooldown to the blink but im seeing blinks every few seconds. And just to state. This isn’t on my DK. I’m asking this question because im leveling a paladin. I like how everyone is so adamant on their main character be the character they’re talking about. My bad. I didn’t mention.
- Shimmer (the talent) has 2 charges. They recharge at a 20 second intervals. It replaces Blink when selected. Does NOT break the mage out of stuns.
- Blink (the default) has no charges, just a 15 second cooldown. Breaks the mage out of stuns.
Displacement (Arcane mages only) has a 30 second cooldown. It moves you to where you Blinked/Shimmered from if you use it within 10 seconds of the Blink/Shimmer, and will reset the cooldown/recharge of the spell. So, as mentioned before, an Arcane Mage can go something like Shimmer > Shimmer > Displacement > Shimmer. Think of it like a spell that’s useful when you want to go to point X and back quickly (like out and back in for a mechanic, or to bamboozle players in PvP).
IIRC, we’re losing displacement, but shimmer still has 2 charges on a 25sec CD. At least that’s how it was last time I looked at the SL info.
I’m not talking about shadowlands im talking about live. Im seeing mages blink or as a lot of you are stating “shimmer” every few seconds. On my pally in pvp ill be running towards them and then blink. Turn around, get kind of close, they blink again, turn around and try the same, they blink again. Thats the most interactions of said blink ive seen. No idea if they can do that more or not.
Arcane mages have up to 4 blinks in short succession. Frost/Fire mages have up to 2 blinks in short succession.
Arcane: Shimmer, Shimmer, Displacement, Shimmer
Frost/Fire: Shimmer, Shimmer.
Displacement lets an arcane mage return to the point they last blinked and resets blink. Shimmer is a talent that lets you blink while casting, gives you 2 charges on blink, but doesn’t let blink break stuns.
In SL, displacement is getting removed, and shimmer is getting nerfed with a longer cooldown. So all mages will have 2 blinks, on a longer CD. Your issue will likely be resolved then.
Thank you for clarifying that atleast :p. I do not play mage what so ever and have never wanted to so its atleast nice to know how the interact. It tripped me out because I was in a pvp match and I was with other people who didn’t know that either. And i dont see myself as a noob when it comes to wow at all seeing as I played during tbc, wotlk (skipped cata and mop) and played forward. Mage just isnt my class so anything to help understand is much appreciated.
