Why Bring a DK in 11.2?

This is by no means a troll or a riot thread. but i want some honest feedback because i don’t feel like i really know.

Outside of the new AMZ which now has a whopping 4 minute cooldown, what incentive is there to bring a DK into raid?

What are you looking for? Because it sounds like you already made up your mind.

The only answer you are going to get around here is “you dont, reroll”.

So you either do that or just continue doing what you are doing. The majority of the playerbase is not in the position where this question shouldnt even be brought up. Go play what you like. If you dont like it, dont play it.

Currently after seeing some livestreams of the latest raid testing, because 2h frost is killing it on dps meters. But so are other classes as well. I suspect frost will get nerfed. Unholy is in a bucket for damage.

Well, it seems like my Velf DK will eat well. Gonna miss the Oblit cleave though.

Hopefully she does hefty amount of ST to compensate.

I fully suspect nerfs inc. Breath is lasting close to an entirely new breath cd.

Oblit is doing insane damage. Frostscythe in aoe is chunking. Only real downside is build diversity is out the window. And the fact that dk is probably gunna get nerfed. At least frost. UH is in the dumpster for damage currently and fun imo.

Grip, death’s advance, ams, amz, tend to be tuned well, execute damage, they can deal damage at range, etc. What melee would you replace them with?

Frost DK Damage will get you in. I know its not the answer you were looking for but holy moly was Frost 2 hand fun in the PTR!

We still have the coolest xmogs.

Simple, unless Frost or Unholy is tuned to be one of the highest damage specs, there is no reason to bring a DPS DK. Exactly like 11.0 and 11.1, if they’re not there for damage, Blood covers the utility aspect. Other classes provide the same or better throughput while bringing buffs, utility, or invulnerability cheese for certain mechanics making fights significantly easier.

Maybe DPS?

Um hello, does anyone else have PoF? Its the best raid buff ever, too bad it dispells when taking damage. Always fun to watch the rest of the group fall into water.

Best utility ever, no class comes as close

Warrior and bring 5% ap for everyone, monk and bring 8% melee damage, rogue/pala for consistent 3% DR for the party/raid, DH for 3% magic damage, shaman etc etc etc…… If a 3min cd amz (talented) is what people are banking on I’ve got a bridge to sell you. Repositioning a trash add every 15sec is minor forgettable utility that any group can live without. Blizzard have made their minds up at the moment, they have chosen poorly. Such a shame.

I hope frost’s damage is busted next patch. Something needs to justify this.

It is no doubt going to get nerfed.

And after the first of each of those…if they’re not brought by brewmaster, prot warrior prot paladin, holy paladin, vdh, etc…

What’s the cooldown on all the other melee spec’s raid cooldowns again? And which one beats a 15% DR?

Not sure what you mean here.

Off the top of my head darkness is as least as good but guess what, comes with 3% magic damage. Next.
Blizzard have failed here, totally and utterly. They have danced around the subject and made things up to fit a narritive that ‘grip is a raid buff’ LOL. An idea so laughable that people can and have debunked it effortlessly time and time again. An idea so bad that deathknights tried to get the message across with hashtags, desperate but understandable. Fit the square peg into the square hole and give DKs a raid buff. Simple, simple, simple stuff.

You don’t get battle shout x 2 from 2 different warriors. So after you bring one of each of these classes an additional one doesn’t bring more value.

It means you have more raid slots than there are “raid buffs”. So when the raid buffs are accounted for, what melee are you going to take?

Grip was good on the first boss on mythic in todays testing. Not bad on the third either.
But those are early bosses that will quickly get out geared…

Amz can be talented to 3 min and is arguably the strongest group defensive a dps has access to.

Both frost and unholy are getting reworked so chances are they will be tuned high similar to all other reworks.

That being said DK really should get a raid buff.

Sure but you always bring one regardless of tuning. Dk relies purely on tuning or grip and most of the time grip is just having one of the tanks be bdk. Not to mention you’re lucky if grip is useful for 1 boss a tier at most.
