I don’t understand the negativity surrounding this decision. Why go out of your way to whine about a decision that I’d be willing to guess at least 80%+ of the player base agrees with? Bad internet and things of that nature are on the player and those deaths should remain permanent. However, I also think that in regards to something like repeated DDOS attacks, that are seemingly designed to target a specific group of players but affect the entire server, are a different story. You don’t like it? Cool, stop playing and move on with your life. The rest of us that continue to play won’t even notice you’re gone.
“MUHHHH STREEEEMERRZZZZ MUHHHH STREEEEAAAAAMEERRSSSSSSSS”
idiots can’t see that there’s a qualitative difference between dying because of server or connection instability and a 40-man raid being repeatedly targeted by an expensive external attack by a hostile / malicious actor that was so severe it affected all of Blizzard’s servers.
Lmao. Exactly, this whole “elitist” mentality is dumb.
People just have an unhealthy obsession with hating on streamers. I’m guessing it’s jealousy.
It’s not about hating streamer or jealousy. It’s about not a single DDOS before being rollback since blizzard exist and this one being rollback because of the people involved in it are doing good PR for them.
It’s about 20 years of diablo hardcore not being rollback, it’s about them not respecting the core and essence of hardcore.
For hardcore mode player it’s the equivalent of your softcore character being turned hardcore tomorrow without you wanting it because someone popular wanted it.
It’s also about the fact blizzard said they would never do it under any circumstances on their official server and people were hype about that contrary to the on appeal-hardcore from the classic hardcore addon which right now is no different than the path blizzard is taking.
If they would have done it on the first DDOS, targeted or not, streamer or not, instead of this one which happen to wipe the whole onlyfangs. Not a single soul would have complain.
I don’t know what’s hard to understand about all this. If anything blizzard themselves is creating the hate toward streamer by specifically deciding to rollback this DDOS and not any other before.
I play d2-d3-d4 hardcore since day 1, if blizzard does a rollback in d2 cause of a bunch of streamer despise the 20 years of ddos i would be piss too.
The Hardcore server would have been dead within a month if Blizzard sat on their hands and did nothing about the ddos attacks. I personally haven’t felt like playing since the first big wave of attacks a couple weeks ago because it felt like such a hopeless situation.
Would I have rather seen this officially addressed ten days ago when team liquid was targeted, rather than now following an attack on an Onlyfangs raid? Yes. Since the amount of ddos deaths was probably actually more in that first case.
I’d also rather that Blizzard beefed up the server and perhaps added in a warning system or something over character restorations. But imo at least they have now said and are going to do something about this. Which is far better than nothing.
HC lost an enormous amount of players directly because of these attacks, and that is just a fact. I truly believe that the options going forward were either for Blizzard to step in, or for HC to just die.
According to a lot of whiny trolls on the forum, they would rather see HC die because of the “principle” of it. To me, as someone who actually plays on the realm and would like to continue to play with a healthy and stable community, their argument makes no sense.
Pretty sure it’s 99% retail players who hate on classic as it is stealing retails shine.
Also there a lot of people who have put thousands of hours into this game, but have bad personalities and aren’t likable and they are jealous of streamers who have it made playing the game they have worked hard on to never get anything out of
Jealousy is a hell of a drug
This whole excuse if BS, if an WoW HC die because of that it’s not because of DDOS.
Every diablo HC, POE HC and OSRS HC are doing fine without rollback after 2 decades of unfair death out of the player control, DDOS included.
This is the same guy who wants you to go to jail for a now decriminalized action just because he went to jail for it back when it was a crime.
This is the same as complaining that it’s not fair that kids who got the polio vaccine didn’t get polio after so many had died of it in the past lol
And to add to the pile-on, RS has definitely done rollbacks in that 20 years.
Not many, just as Blizz has done this like once or twice before. (before hardcore was even a thing)
Example? When housing was released. And other exploits that happened.
This analogy really prove how f up wow player are.
Someone who join an HC server signed for the no revive rules.
Nobody is signing in to get polio to see if they can survive it.
Jesus christ man
You are missing the point completely
You’re missing the point of an analogy
Nobody is signing in to get DDosd.
Your move.
They do by the rule of engagement into an HC server from blizzard itself.
Hardcore Ruleset Overview
Death on Hardcore realms is permanent on that realm.
Thank you, no one knew what hardcore meant.
Now that we know,
You are still in the wrong.
Polio happened, and it’s curable.
You’re agreeing to a one live only/permanent death by signing in an HC server.
You don’t agree or sign anywhere to get polio.
There are much more positive responses than negative. The negative nancies just never got out of barrens so they don’t understand the amount of time and effort it takes to get to 60, only to lose their toon to a DDOS attack. It is a big W FOR BOTH streamers and non-streamers alike and the HC community.
YAY for blizzard’s decision and response.
(for the record, I did not lose a toon from DDOS nor am I a streamer…)
Every rule has its exceptions. Don’t be too rigid or you’ll never get anywhere in life Life lessons bro
