Why bother adding the "request stop" button

Any time I use the button, it doesn’t actually do anything despite there being numerous other points I gotta pass over on the way to the original destination. It’d be one thing if they didn’t add it in, as it wasn’t present back in the day, but they did for seemingly no reason. Why blizz?

I used it yesterday and several times before with no problem. I don’t know if pressing it again cancels the stop request, but maybe you spammed it and that is your problem.

I could have sworn I remember being able to jump off the birds at any time. Preferably when you were close to the ground or over water. Maybe that was an early build that was lost or removed as I also remember most of the mobs in the starter area’s being hostile at one point as well.

I’m pretty sure that even if you click “request stop,” it won’t stop at flight paths you haven’t already physically been to and unlocked. Is it possible it isn’t stopping because you haven’t unlocked those flight paths yet?

This used to confuse me as well, but once you understand how it works, it works 100% of the time.

Say for example you leave Org and go to Winterpring. When you look at the available points you see a line that goes directly from Org to Wintersping, that means that for that path, Azshara is NOT connected to it although you fly directly to on the way to Winterpring. So the request stop wont do anything no matter how close to the flight master in Azshara you are.

So pay attention to the lines that go to other flight paths. If the line at your starting location doesnt go to any other flight master along its route, the request stop button does nothing because there are no connected paths.

A better question is why does it always switch positions on my UI?

It hasn’t worked for me, flown straight over the flight path without stopping

It works fine for me.

I am aware of that, and the flight path that urged me to start this was shown as going through a number of already discovered points. Judging by some of the other responses in here, the game just seems to roll the dice on whether it actually acknowledges it when you press the button.

I find the only time it doesn’t work is when I waited too long to click it.
