Why Blizzard is still a good company

They are a bit slow listening to feedback sometimes, but my experience with them has been they eventually DO listen, I know when my server was lagging to no end they eventually fixed it up. That was literally the closest I had come to unsubbing in almost 10 years or something like that.

I also think despite what people say that certain groups aren’t getting enough representation, we got more customization then ever before available in game (still not as much as some other games), and they have a range of progressive characters now.

For this reason, I think we should be more forgiving of some of their stuff ups over the years (the Hong Kong thing, Diablo Immortal fiasco, and a few other issues) but in fairness it’s the largest gaming company in the Americas and Europe in terms of revenue these days, so of course if you the biggest one you going to make the big mistakes first for everyone else to learn from.

But if I was to be very honest, why do I keep coming back to wow over FF14, it’s because many of the great features are still intact in wow, you still have a variety of things to do from PVP to PVE stuff, but let’s be honest, the best of Blizzard is yet to come, EVERYONE knows that Diablo 4 is going to be awesome as it’s going to be a game made for fans, and it will be very interesting to see what happens in wow after Shadowlands.

Anyway this wasn’t simply a Blizzard fanboy thread, but I think it’s important we tell them what they are getting right too, not just the things we’d like to see improve.

You’re still not getting a beta invite. Good try.

You can’t be good without a soul.

That’s nice. Oceanic customers whose servers have been lagging horribly since the start of BfA are still being told “it’s your internet” since the lag is almost certainly caused by Blizzard’s cost-cutting.

They are a corporation that wants money from you, nothing more. There’s nothing to “forgive” because a corporation is never, ever your friend.

With the news articles about firing 800 employees after the most profitable year they’ve ever had and how existing employees are having to choose between food and rent, you can make a pretty solid case that they are, in fact, a terrible company.

quite a bit of typing to defend a multibillion dollar company that outsources to a company that outsources to another company.

Oh yeah that was another one of their many hiccups

that is far more than a hiccup. that is pure immorality. evil. deplorable. these people helped their company reach record numbers and their reward was their livelihood getting smashed right in the face.

links to substantiated confirmation that they can’t pay rent and buy food?

“One employee wrote that they had to skip meals to pay rent and that they used the company’s free coffee as an appetite suppressant. Another said they would only eat oatmeal and bail on team lunches because they couldn’t afford to buy food at the company cafeteria. A third said they and their partner stopped talking about having kids because they knew they wouldn’t be able to afford it.”

Was his name Bert by any chance?

Most of us millennial generation are in that boat these days though.

True, but when you’re a programmer working for one of the biggest videogame developers in the world making record profits, this should not be the case.

Money is a bit of a trap, the more you have the more you tend to spend, as you can afford higher rentals and things that the general population doesn’t have access too.

Fyi, that is standard common stuff that takes place in ALL studios, gaming to production (live action / animation).

More so when your bottom barrel employee. Wait till you see what some do to their employees during emergencies (family or medical). Yesh. Not pretty, but extremely petty.

Yeah. Just was leveling in Bastion again and – look, it’s one thing that these blue angel people carry us like a mother cat carries kittens, but it is SO poorly done. How do you even excuse a top game development company being unable to render something like this without your character looking like a surfboard? That’s some seriously awful animation right there.

I forgive the cloak clipping, the falling halfway into the ground while standing in certain places, things like that. But COME ON. Blizzard, if you couldn’t manage to animate this way of carrying a hero then why did you go with it? Sloppy, clunky work that would be rejected by most game developers.

Blizzard is still good? Not really. Not when they churn out crap.

So why do we all just take it? I’m not advocating for Communism, here, but why do we all agree to work for peanuts while a few people get richer than small countries used to be?

Blizzard is not a good company, Blizzard in fact is such a bad company two US senators had to step in and denounce there business practices. They have a long history of under paying and laying off hundreds of people. Claims of harassment in works spaces being ignored. Devs actually mocking players in interviews…the list goes on.

Lilithia…I know you make those odd “Sylvanas is really good” threads and that…odd but w/e. PLEASE dont stick your neck out for a billion dollar company that is ACTUALY borderline evil in areas of business ethics.

I don’t, I have people in my life trying to get me to work a job next to nothing trying to tell me I’m lazy for refusing to do it, but the reality is, that if I was to take that job, I would have $0 in the bank at the end of my pay cycle due to travel costs, so I am telling them screw you.
