Why Asmongold almost quitting is bigger than you think

First a little pretext. I rarely, if ever, post anything on the forums however like most of you i’m to my whits end with Bfa.

I’ve been playing this game since the end of 05’ and have had on off and on again relationship after the Cata/mop era. I have always enjoyed content creators making light of the game or showing something new and interesting.

Like most, I would watch video’s on boss kills or strategies or how to min/max my character if I needed a little extra help. As I am now in the 35+ genre of players I now only play for entertainment and not hardcore by any standard, however I am watching people flee the sinking ship faster than I can track. My tiny Guild used to be Massacre on Daggerspine, we enjoyed the game for what it was and we changed the guild name out of boredom and possibly drunken behavior.

Why does any of what i said matter?

Because when I joined this guild it was a community and I looked to the better players with better gear as a bench mark because I wanted to “be that good” one day. Asmongold has been preaching Excitement vs Fulfillment for quite a while now and people only seem to see his antics rather than pay attention to his words. He has made some extremely valid points about the state of the game and because of it he has changed a lot of his channel to other content other than WoW.

The community is upset, holding out for Classic, and even that isn’t as fun anymore as this company is dragging their name through the mud and is almost in a free fall in the eyes of many. So I ask you, leave this game, who is left? Casuals? Maybe, but they are hanging on for excitement and that dopamine trip will only last so long. Old guys like me? perhaps, but i’m all but spent on this game and there are many that have the same feeling I do.

We love this game. Love it. We used to be Hardcore as they come. WoW first, Life second and we only want the game to succeed and last for as long as possible but not at the expense of the games soul (which seems to be the case now).

I leave this to you all, hardcore, casuals, and new players. Don’t be silent. Don’t accept the mediocrity of what we have been paying for these months now. Send in tickets, make posts, talk about it constantly and maybe our voices will be heard.

Lets hope blizzard makes the changes soon and uses open and honest communication with the players because hiding behind scripted Q&A’s is only stirring anger.

p.s. I stayed logged in with my main. Not hiding with an alt.

EDIT: And the likes haven’t changed in over half an hour despite shooting up to 25 in three minutes.

how am i shilling? have you seen that guy? he plays the game in filth and mold and if a guy like that will quit wouldn’t you not think the game is dying? just a thought i posed to you all. just an opinion.

Going to agree with a lot of people here, I really couldn’t be bothered to care if he quit the game. He just like Az are always negative and toxic. There’s a reason why Asmons fans are very young, because they’re the only ones foolish enough to put up with his BS, and still think it’s content.

Personally I think liking your own post from alts should get you banned from the forum, and Blizzard has the data so there is no way to lie about it.

That said, no one cares what Asmondgold does except him and his legion of loyal butt snorklers.

By the by, wasn’t this a “why Asmondgold LEAVING is a big deal” thread just a week ago? Now you are trying to sell how him ALMOST leaving is still a really big deal?

All drama upvote farming by another shameless Twitch capitalist pandering to rage and creating division and angst among his fan base just to bring in more money for himself.

If a Twitch streamer wants my respect they need to speak in a respectable way. Calm, articulate, intelligent, not fueled by knee-jerk rage and hate filled insults. Only boring people find that sort of content entertaining.

Whatever a person USED to do, I can only base my level of interest on what they are actually doing at the moment.

Seriously, people need to just learn to make up their own mind and not rely so much on what some loud mouth sub farming twitch politician ‘speaking what they feel’ says for them.

Speak for yourself. Have some self respect.

I don’t care what a streamer says. I don’t rely on a complete stranger with a monetary stake in the game to influence what I play. He is an entertainer. He is rude, crude and that is what his audience likes. He is an over rated monkey banging a tin cup on the Internet.

A lot of people who’s opinions I respect don’t create streaming accounts and put stuff up on youtube and, frankly, come across as a few slices short of a loaf. His opinion weighs no more than anyone else’s who has the ability and the desire to observe the game and form ideas and opinions on it. And I don’t see why his should be any more important than mine or yours or any of those other people I spoke of.

Being able to stream and post on youtube does not make you an expert. It does not make you a gamesmaster at whose feet we should all sit and applaud.

And I’m sorry, but that’s silly. The game will be dead when the last player leaves and turns off their computer because the last server has been turned off. We do not need Asmongold, we do not need others like him. We need positive people who continue to contribute to the dialogue on equal footing because when you put people like him on a pedestal, it overshadows the rest of those who are just as worthy of being heard.
