Why aren't tokens an option on classic yet?

So, classic has been out almost a year now, we’re at BWL content which is on full clear by most guilds on most servers and I’m sure AQ40 isn’t too far away…

If you’re a new player and say you just leveled up a 60 warrior, what exactly are you expected to do?

I leveled up fishing / cooking / herb / alchemy just to try and grind some gold… Nothing sells, nothing… At least nothing that doesn’t require a group to get to…

Trying to grind cathedral in all greens is beyond painful, I can barely clear it if I pull two at a time, and I have to eat every other pull or so. I’m getting a clear about once every 45 mins if I’m really on top of it, and I’m netting about 15 gold a run? Really?

I can’t get groups because lelz nub u sux… Joining a guild or two didn’t help, welcome to everyone is already decked and not running dungeons or are in nice little clicks like always.

The only way someone can even catch up now is to buy there way in… As someone who makes good money and works a lot, it’s a fantastic option for me to be able to actually get caught up.

Why do you think tokens are bad?

Imo, the people who argue against tokens don’t want them because they want to have a power imbalance, in their favor. They want the extra time invested to be able to be lorded over those who didn’t put the time in. Which makes them gigantic hypocrites because that’s the exact thing they’re trying to avoid by people who can “pay-to-win”.

It’s not pay-to-win if you’re buying the same damn gear the majority of the players already have.

Those who can’t afford to buy tokens, and haven’t been able to put the time in, have no recourse and they’re better off just not playing. How is that better for the community? Isn’t it better if more people can play on a level playing field so that competition and participation in raids is more abundant?

What are your thoughts?

No. Simple as that.

No tokens in Vanilla WoW.
Classic WoW is a copy of Vanilla WoW.
You do the math…

Vanilla and Classic are very different, obviously. In Vanilla your average player didn’t have a SEA of information on where to level, how, what to buy, what classes were good etc etc etc… They’re not comparable.

Even if they were… What would be the problem in having a feature that makes the game better for everyone?

Except it doesn’t. Explain to me what my inclination would be to play the game when I have the ability if I want where I could throw 300 dollars at tokens every 2 weeks and not give a damn about gold EVER again?

This is one of those things that you mistakenly think because it favors you, but screws over everyone else that it should be a thing. But you won’t acknowledge it screws over everyone else because you’re too inept to think past yourself and consider game health, economic health, etc. Clearly if it works for you it must work for everyone right? Yeah, not the case. People are more aware now of what “One small change that benefits people” will lead to and those of us with passion for this game’s actual health will fight you to hell.

If you’re so concerned with buying gold, go to a website and run the risk of being banned because you cbf playing the game to earn it.

Use the AH, and sell to players who have an abundance of gold to support you.

Well, if gold wasn’t preventing you from being able to get into a guild, to be able to get into raids, to be able to compete in pvp… You’d have I dunno, FUN playing the game?

If the only reason YOU play the game is to farm gold all day, just so that you can have these things and others can’t, you’re actively putting yourself out of a game to play.

Wonder why there’s no real uptick in players? Why populations are declining not increasing? It’s certainly not because people have too much access to the content, and I can assure you that there are many people who look at the massive WALL of nope you aren’t good enough keeping them out.

It’s not a risk, it’s a guarantee, I KNOW I would get banned if I broke the TOS I’ve seen it many times, which is why I don’t do it.

I’m trying to make a case for why this doesn’t actually hurt the system. You’re just being stubborn because you’re in the exact opposite position of me, and happen to be the one with the power, and don’t want to share it.

If we’re all equal, we can all compete / participate, how is THAT an issue?

Nothing sells, nothing… At least nothing that doesn’t require a group to get to…

Um…
Plaguebloom
Mountain silversage
Dreamfoil
Gromsblood
Goldthorn
Swiftthistle
Icecap
Etc, etc, etc…

Gold farming as an herbalist is easy…Alchemy makes it even better…

Nothing sells.

Meanwhile Arcane Crystals are 70g each in my server.

Buying top tier gear with real money is the definition of pay to win.

Also, no more changes.

50g on mine. It’s nuts.

Mountain silversage is expensive.

Arcane Crystals are expensive. Dreamfoil, Gromsblood, Blue Sapphires, Dark Iron Ore… All of those sell pretty quickly if you undercut the market.

Because tokens are not coming to classic and never were.
This is not 3rd party WoW as operated in China, things work differently there, but you are not there.

If you want a classic token, go to retail
farm some gold for a couple hours, easily, and poof, you have a token
that you can use for game time, that you can spend playing classic.

See?
Easy Peasy

Is your faction dead? I make tons of gold just casually herbing, and the prices for things like plaguebloom and mountain silversage just keep going up. Heck, even some of the lower level herbs are worth quite a lot now that most people are 60.

Well, it may depend on your server, but there are generally some things that are more sell-able than others.

Warriors are not really a great solo-farming class, but if you grab a healer and do DM Drop runs, you can probably do alright.

I’m not sure what sort of GPH you’re hoping for, and obviously whether certain items will sell well or not on your server will depend on various factors. For example, a server with a healthy twinking community will likely have more people who will pay more for twinking items than one that doesn’t.

If you do not have an AH addon, then you should probably get one, as it will save a lot of time trying to sort prices, and keep track of which items are selling for how much.

You do not have to be a mage, but certainly a mage is an excellent choice for a gold farming character.

If you haven’t checked it out already, Frostadamus has some great gold farming guides on YouTube. Some he emphasizes are good for any class.

It definitely helps to know what is in demand, and where to get it.

Which is really the right thing to do if Classic isn’t enjoyable to you.

Discuss what openly?

WoW tokens in classic are not a thing for OCE EU and NA.
They were specifically requested, by the 3rd party that operates WoW in china and some of asia.
And for that market, it is not abnormal.

Tokens are not and were not a thing for the rest of the world as pertaining to classic…
If they were, Blizzard would have already either done them, or discussed them and not even bother to say “Hey guys, this is a china thing only, dont read anything in to it”

There is nothing to discuss.
WE have tokens, our WoW sub lets us play any version that they offer.
WE can go play retail for a few hours, then buy a token and activate it for game time, log out of retail and PRESTO!
Classic game time.

So that pretty much completes the discussion.

Tokens are not authentic, nor in the spirit of the vanilla environment
Hence people are saying no.

Your thread is nearly copy/pasted from the one 3 months ago
so they have already read it

People like you are why games are filled with microtransactions nowadays. You don’t want to earn anything in game, you just want to take the easy way and pay cash to skip the grind. Just go back to retail or quit, those are your options.

That is bunk. Total bunk.

I am a broke 60
And yet, if i felt like it, there are many things i could do easily to generate income.

I dont do them, because i am lazy and have no pressing need for a ton of gold.
If i did, then i would get unlazy.

People started WoW every day of the week, from day 1.
And long before tokens were even an idea, they found ways to generate income.

And the vanilla environment never had an option to buy gold
Not one that did not have the possibility in getting you a lifetime ban anyways.

Everyone in your realm that has more gold than you, they earned it in some way, i dont care if it was farming for 18 hours level hopping for a week, they still went out and earned it.
So get after it.
