Pretty sure it’s just a meme at this point.
Transmog hounds don’t like them because it’s harder to see all the detail of the various pieces.
For those who get annoyed by excessive clipping or weapons that don’t “fit,” having a gnome’s sword or staff clip into the ground constantly is a deal-breaker.
They’re very short, obviously, and for many players, that perspective creates motion sickness or they just get annoyed by having grass in their field of vision all the time without zooming out.
That’s really it.

As mentioned, tmog isn’t as satisfying because everything is squished and tiny.
-
Most faces (especially female) have bags under their eyes like they’ve never slept in their lives. The older face styles look better honestly.

The fidgety idle animations are the last straw for me. They won’t stop moving! It’s like they are npcs in a 90’s 16-bit jrpg and have to look constantly active so they don’t blend into the background. It’s not nearly as bad on mechagnomes (but they have worse tmog problems).
Its kinda funny. My buddy works out 5-6 days a week. Always at the gym. Big bodybuilder 6’3 guy. And…. Hes a gnome main. It always cracks me up and i gotta tease him for it!! Hes a gnome monk main rn.
It’s like asking why aren’t we showing love to rats and cockroaches.
I like Gnomes. I hope for one day a giant expansion on them and / or Dwarves. Gnomes need a city. Everybody else and their mother has one.
Don’t look at me, 90% of my characters are Gnomes or play as Gnomes.
I would also like the option to play as a tiny Tauren please. Pretty please??!?!?!
TINY POWER!
Everyone wants elves/humans because ALL transmog in the game is designed by default on a human skeleton.
So if you play another race, you’d best get comfortable with the stretching and squishing of armor textures.
(The real reason is that they are weak-minded. )
I think the way Blizzard portrays them in-game as being the comic relief every single time kind of made people not want to be them.
Also they’re kinda ugly :v
I’m like you but opposite, I want to play as a HUGE Vulpera, like bigger than my tauren, but Blizzard wont allow me
Rats are amazing! I love rats. Roaches not so much.
Small.
Nerds.
Weird proportions.
Transmog is very hard because of the weird proportions.
Constantly wiggling (literally my main reason for not being able to play them).
Jimmy Neutron face (for female).
The Hills Have Eyes face (for male).
Dumb Hair (looking at you, OP).
Joke Race (as treated by Blizzard).
Mechagnome-adjacent.
Female Gnomes can kinda almost get away with being Gnomes. Almost. Sometimes.
Male Gnomes are just kinda gross even if you forgive a lot of the… Gnomeness.
Which is a shame, because back when Blizzard was putting up short stories for the faction leaders, Mekkatorque’s was one of the best.
As for ugly… looks pointedly at tauren and Forsaken… mmm, no. Although I know someone who made a gnome in TBC who seriously looked like he should have been trying to lure kids into a van with candy.
People don’t realize how cool and wonderful Gnomes are.
I feel like their face proportions are really off. I’m okay with male gnomes with big beards because it hides most of their face.
I like Mecha-Gnome more than gnome. Sure they’re diaper gnomes, but only if you don’t wear a robe or kilt.
I was bored and started a Fem BDK Mecha-Gnome and it’s actually kind of cool. Undead Cyborg wielding a katana… just short.
Y’know what, the Jimmy Neutron nostalgia seems to work for me, especially for the Mecha-Gnome aspect which is already tech-themed.
Really? And what race do you think it was?
I so wish there was a size slider on ALL races.
I just think that they look weird and creepy.
Goblin and Vulpera feel better proportioned and animated.
You leave my cousin alone.
You may be small and, clearly superior for that fact, but the photographer holds responsibility here.
