IMO they’re the best Alliance allied race by FAR and they only require exalted with the 7th Legion, which is pretty easy to grind compared to other reps.
According to warcraftrealms, they’re the second least popular Alliance race (only above Mechagnomes), which is absolutely stunning to me. They’re even below shiny Draenei.
I just don’t get it, their customization options are fantastic and cool, why are they so underplayed?
Because they’re dorfs.
Personally I think they need more beard & hair options or at least give them all the normal dwarf beard & hair options as well as what they have. 
Everything else is great.
Dwarves will always be one of the least popular races for a few reasons.
They’re short, which is a big one. Not many folks like the short races.
They look like they just stepped out of a lava bath. So they’re always burning… like ALWAYS.
Most of the folks who do like/play dwarves are mainly huge fantasy nerds. This is common within LOTR community as well. Like dwarves are for that hardcore fantasy player.
They are only good because the women can have this badass side shave
Because Alliance aren’t capable of appreciating anything.
They’d rather cry about appropriating a Horde race for their own. (Blood Elves)
A lot of the allied races need more customization options, I hope they do this in Shadowlands.
I’m still waiting for more robotic options and bigger limbs for my little Mechagnome.
Mechagnomes and dark iron dwarves are my two most favorite allied races. I guess I’m an outlier.

My two Alliance characters are a Dark Iron Paladin and Mechagnome Mage
Everything I’ve read from the Alliance about worgen is about how awful they look and how they need tails and upright posture.

Anyway, DID are awesome. But it’s normal why people don’t play much of them. I love the Female DID more, though.

Mine is at 103. Will get him the heritage armor but sadly I’ve discovered I don’t enjoy monk leveling so he may get shut down after he gets the armor.
My mechagnome is 66 and climbing.
Oddly the only 2 alliance allied races that don’t completely suck to me are the least popular.
Been a loladin since 04. Go play a shaman.
