Why aren't all the continental racing cups always up?

This isn’t the Darkmoon Faire (and I still argue the DMF should be up 24-7 and made better). There’s no people standing around cheering you on or socializing happening. Why does blizzard constantly make everything so dang FOMO? Why can’t we just enjoy things on our own time?

I think I was on break from the game for the EK cup.

It’ll come around.

Probably engagement driving.

Fun might be detected.

Can’t have that.

Hey, at least the races in DF are permanently available. Imagine if those could only be done while a WQ was up for them, especially now with the Taivan meta. :dracthyr_lulmao:

Have all the racing cups even been designed yet?

They all come back around again. They’re events. That’s not a pyschological phenomenon.

Rotating events ensure engagement. If they were up all the time, people would get bored and stop doing them.

But why does it matter if people got bored and stopped doing them? And how is it an ‘event’? It’s a static thing that just sits there. It’s not group based. There’s no engagement with other players.

I can understand timewalking, I get weekly world bosses, I understand the need for grouping to make things both feel possible and feel lively, but these are remote locations in a remote continent that’s not even played anymore. I just went through every. single. race. and did not see a SINGLE OTHER PLAYER the entire time.

So how was my ‘engagement’ with this ‘event’ any different doing it now versus doing it on any other day? This was Sunday afternoon too, which should be a high engagement period. That’s my point, though, these are engagements, OR events. It’s artificial FOMO.

I miss the days when we played games rather than have games play us.

(I don’t have strong feelings about the spread of time between races - though I suspect I would if I’d missed a rotation for some reason)

Because then people come on the forums and complain that the whole world is empty because they’re the only person racing, WoW is a solo game now, put the MMO back in MMORPG - more than usual.

There’s nothing wrong with encouraging players to engage together in specific activities on a rotating basis. It makes the whole game world more fun for everyone.

Because then they stop making the content, because it’s not worth the time. They want to keep things fresh, not stale. This is game marketing and design 101.

Because that would not make you sub for a month just to play for a day.

Because it isn’t about our enjoyment or entertainment, it’s about Blizzard wanting to have as much control as possible over how and when we engage with the game.

Meh i am glad they look out for the shareholders

The last Eastern Kingdom Cup event started on October 4th 2023 and ended on October 17th 2023. The next Eastern Kingdom Cup event will start on April 10th 2025 and will end on April 23rd 2025. I have already completed this event along with its achievements, titles, etc…but having to wait almost 2 years for it to come back is a lot. Making it a yearly for each cup would be so much better IMO.

Yeah they should double/triple the occurrence rate

I agree that they could always be up, perhaps they will do that in TWW

What??? That’s the one cup that I missed. An 18 month wait is ridiculous. :frowning:

If they were up all the time , people would do the same thing they do now: do them once for the achievement and then stop. Nobody’s replaying these regardless.

The only thing with them being events is you’re screwed and have to wait months if you missed those 2 weeks.

Edit: 18 months?? geez . All the “just wait it’ll come back” is one thing for like 3 months but for a year and a half lolol
