I’ve been playing WoW for years, and it’s become increasingly clear that arenas are the worst part of the game. They cater to a small, elitist group of players who think their skills in a tiny, enclosed space somehow make them superior. PvP should be about large-scale battles and epic conflicts, not these cramped, boring skirmishes. Arenas have also ruined class balance, with constant nerfs and buffs aimed at appeasing the hardcore PvP crowd, which in turn messes up PvE. It’s time Blizzard admits their mistake and removes arenas altogether. Let’s bring the focus back to what WoW is truly about: epic world PvP and cooperative PvE content.
ight who let the fox out of his cage
They made solo queue rated bgs. Arena will die on its own, doesn’t need players asking for it.
Why arenas should be removed from WoW:
they are stinky
Maybe have Arenas only on PvP servers? All server types could have some special tick to them. Like on RP servers special RP events could spawn and there Rading are basic rading only and Mythics restriced to a few levels of rating. All to discurage hardcore raiders from rolling there.
Interesting idea, but separating arenas to only PvP servers could create more problems than it solves. Players shouldn’t have to switch servers just to access a particular feature; that would fragment the community and inconvenience those who enjoy both PvP and PvE content.
As for RP servers, restricting content like Mythics could discourage a lot of players and lead to underpopulated servers. While special events for RP servers sound great, limiting high-end content might alienate players who enjoy role-playing but also want to experience all aspects of the game.
Instead of segregating features by server type, a better approach might be to enhance each server type’s unique aspects without restricting core gameplay elements. That way, players can enjoy their preferred style of play without missing out on key parts of the game
Yup. Then the duo queue RBG mode will die too.
But how do you enforce that? Roleplaying on RP servers died out due to being flooded by non RP acivites. Roleplaying ceased to be the norm. As such, we now have tolrplaying servers in name only. The role doesn’t forbid Roleplaying on any server type. The servers would not be empty if there are fewer RP servers, just enough to accommodate actual roleplayers. And I am fine with people sending gear to the RP servers characters. However I do not want to booth out the non roleplayers but create new RP servers where roleplaying is expected. There would also need to be a free character transfer for this. Suggestably an option to have all your already existing characters, at a given time, a free relocation. New characters created on the old realm need to use the paid transfer system.
There’s no bait on that fishing hook though
I have hated arena since TBC lol.
Come to Moon Guard, there is loads of it. And no I am not talking about Goldshire.
Sounds like something to test out soon. Thanks for the tip.
Idk why you would need to remove arena.
If you want the meta to revolve around 10 man objective based PVP modes (I agree btw) you can just keep arena around as a side option with some cosmetic gear.
I am guessing that OP never won an arena so lets get rid of them.
SoD off. Or is it SoD on?
The real problem is that Blizzard refused to balance PvP around the 1v1. If they had used that philosophy from the beginning, Arena would have been much better. Since people simply say it can’t be done, it’s probably easier to remove Arenas…
We might as well remove all rated PvP, because it’s not fair that some class/specs are going to be overrepresented and others will be underrepresented.
What Blizzard doesn’t want to admit is that they have already picked winners and losers before the fact.
keep arenas…
just fill them with players, 40 v 40
I always hate arenas, but Manny people like them, for some reason l.
Oh well
Yes!
TBC called, it wants its hot takes back.
