I have my class chosen (amazingly, after a lot of thinking and changing my mind I am rolling a druid), but I am still going back and forth a lot on the faction I want to roll.
I’ve played both, I like both and my goals are flexible enough that a min/max decision about either doesn’t seem enough to sway me.
TL;DR: what faction are you rolling your main on, and why?
Horde
Paladins are just cheesy with total damage immunity. Feels like PvE easy mode.
Alliance in general just feel too Tolkien and mary sue in design. They’re just too boring and unappealing.
Horde and Shamans in general I find to be just so far more interesting gameplay wise and fun overall.
Also, better mounts imo. Tiger is cool, but that can be farmed in ZG if I really wanted to, which I don’t. Rather have my spookie boi skeletal mount.
Edit: forgot to mention: Gnomes. Imagine not being able to attack those little buggers on sight? Total deal breaker.

I read that tiger drops around 2 out of every 1000 runs.
That’s some hefty farming.
Oh for sure.
But its still possible. And while its true you can potentially farm Baron’s warhorse, the ZG Raptor, they are exceptionally rare and I rather be a faction that those mounts are readily available anyway with rep and proper planning than just one day hoping I get them.

Personally i prefer alliance, mostly for the better lore quests. I’m not really big on battlegrounds, so the pvp advantage of horde side isnt that great. what i will say is horde definitely has better dungeon access, and late raid access (which is terrible for everyone tbh) which i would prefer, so its honestly a toss up at this point. im probably going to flip a coin come class creation day.
also EK>kalimdor

Going alliance, because I want to level paladin first and then druid second and mage third.
I like both sides and it was a struggle. However I like Paladin better than Shaman. No offense shamans, just saying I like the Paladins better for my own playstyle.

I read that it’s 1 out of every 500. I like my odds better!

Horde because they’re better.

If you’ve already picked druid, and don’t care about faction, I’d recommend alliance. Elf has it a bit better on racials, and you’re on the better faction. To make things even better, you get blessing of kings, as opposed to windfury (worthless to a druid).

Been Alliance for 13 yrs and will remain Alliance.

Other than OG Draenei and some of the Allied Races (KT, Void Elves), the Alliance races are pretty snoreworthy in my eyes. Plus they have the whole stuck up, modern American xenophobia elitist attitude that is a big turnoff. I have almost always rolled Horde because i like the story and characters more (especially Thrall and all the Tauren) and because, at the end of the day, this is a fantasy world filled with magic. I play a human every day irl, why the heck would i want to play a human (or shorter human) in a RPG? Monster races, for the win. Plus, more shaman races.

I’m rolling Alliance because they have all the E-Girls.
Cool, I like horde too and have always had a special fondness for the orc storyline.
…‘stuck up american elitist xenophobia’? I’m pretty sure my mama didn’t raise me to be like that, but we each have our own perspectives.

I can respect that. I will play both factions so i can try both unique classes since i never got to experience what a Classic pally or shammy felt like. Personally, i prefer Horde and love the feel of a Tauren Shaman combo but you better believe i will be rolling a Dwarf Paladin too.

Yeah, my mama didn’t raise me that way either but that just seems like my experience of the general public in America in my nearly 40 years living here. I served in the armed forces, was stationed in Japan, and most of the GIs stuck to American businesses and mocked the Japanese culture rather than trying to enjoy something different. It made me so embarrassed to be an American.

Did some practice leveling on a private server and Alliance just didn’t feel right. Too use to Horde to change it up now I guess.

FTA!!! If you do not have a choice solely based on your hearts desire you are doing Classic wrong bro. Go get into the lore and the feel of Warcraft don’t choose based off of a min/max decision.

Horde.
I’ve always played the more beastly races in games.

Hmmm, I cant say what your experience was so I’ll assume it’s accurate by default. That’s disappointing to hear; we shouldn’t be disrespecting other cultures like that…I’ll hope that part of that is chalked up to young people being ignorant and silly.
I’m 34 and have lived various places in the US, mostly red states I guess, and the people I met generally talked about other cultures with respect. I didn’t sense an air of superiority, except from maybe my dad, but he was kind of a prick and no one really liked him lol.
If americans are on average douchey like that, we need to step it up. I have to assume/hope we arent though, because I haven’t seen it much.
We do have plenty of other things to be embarassed about though
Edit: I got to visit Tokyo once for work and I’ll say this about them: they are badass and would make anyone look rude by comparison. Our partners over there were so nice to us the whole time. Very beautiful awesme folks. Insanely organized, clean subway system…like wtf? How? Anyways…

I am glad your experience has been more positive than mine, it gives me some hope that things will improve someday. Even just looking at our education system, it has a large America first bias though. European and Asian schools learn multiple foreign languages, often to include English, as a requirement, while many American schools have 1-2 foreign language classes that are only optional. There are exceptions of course but it shouldn’t be the rule that we learn just our history. Tying into WoW, i always felt like that is pretty much how the NEs and humans were, writing history to show themselves as pure, righteous races and hating “the others”. That is one big reason i always preferred Horde.
That was my experience with the Japanese as well. Luckily, i got to live off base while i was there and they were the most kindhearted, friendly people i have ever met. Plus: vending machines everywhere, too awesome.
