While I’m personally against them I’m not here to lash out at people who are okay with them, but it does raise the question, do you not see the precedent it sets? Much like when the cash shop was added to retail. “We promise it’s only cosmetics, no progress!”, and then look what happened. “It’s just once per account! We promise :)”. There’s an interview with Mod Mat K, one of the lead devs on Old School Runscape where he talked about the pushback his team got by investors to add micro transactions to OSRS, simply due to how profitable it always is over staying true to the games original design principles, that is your scucess in real life shouldn’t effect your success in game. (One of the major reasons why people left the Current version of the game to begin with!). Does this not bother you if you are okay with the Level Boost?
I do think it’s a mistake, but I’m not so torn up about it that it’s going to ruin anything for me.
I personally don’t like it, but I think they know if they push too hard they’ll just force people back to private servers. I’m hoping the fear of that will keep them from getting too crazy.
I’m having second thoughts about TBC with this coming to light. It’s totally disgusting.
It is a mistake. One that will tank the stock price I hope.
I don’t care because I know it’s not going to be changed. Why waste energy on worrying about it.
Really, it’s not going to be reverted. If you have some hope that they’ll reverse their position I can only tell you to strangle that false hope. There’s going to be trolls and weirdly outraged players sperging about this for months. The more they talk about it, the more they’re going to convince themselves that it’s the end of the world.
I wish I was more laid back about it.
I’m not though, i’m angry and have a chemical imbalance.
I am not happy about it, and I do have concerns that it is a gateway that Blizzard is going to use to push the WoW Token on Classic even tho it is not effect at combating bots.
The question I ask is why people are getting so upset over it.
If it’s about “preserving the spirit of Classic” then that ship has already sailed. The game is figured out, all its secrets exposed. People pay real money to skip any sort of grind as it is. I just don’t see how it will actually have any demonstrable effect in the overworld as you level the traditional way.
There’s going to be an initial wave of Blood Elves and Draenei and then you’ll rarely see anyone as most people are focused on the endgame grind or if they have alts they will get boosted. Pay for gold to level and then pay for gold to GDKP. Your success in real life really does alter your success in Classic as it is.
I encourage people to either enjoy the game for what it is or vote with your wallet and find an alternative.
1.) Because I work 50 hours a week
2.) My main is still on skeram alliance
But honestly classic wow and tbc the enjoyment for me is 90% leveling so I wouldn’t be destroyed if they took it out.
I AM NOT OK WITH LEVEL BOOSTS! If you are mentioning the words “Classic” and “Paid Boosts” in the same sentence, then it is an absolute abomination!
Anyone 'member the handwringing over Layering/Sharding when it was announced for Vanilla Classic?
'member how it was going to destroy Classic and was a massive mistake?
I 'member.
It’s a similar argument as to why people don’t like dungeon boosts. Presumably, people will be using boosts on a class they haven’t leveled yet, otherwise, why wouldn’t they just be using their existing character? You learn and become proficient at the class as you level, letting people do paid boosts just dumps a bunch of fresh 60s into the pool of players who don’t know the first thing about their class and haven’t gone through that learning experience.
While that is a fair point its a shame that the best alternative for people who do want to play vanilla got sent to the shadow realm.
Voting with your wallet is the best way to get the attention of someone who cares only about money. I’m not saying that to be dismissive.
Edit: I will admit, that doesn’t really help if one opts to keep their sub money to stay in Perma-Naxx servers where I imagine these boosts do not work.
level boosts need to go… that is the one thing i really really dont like
It’s only 1 per account and it can’t be used on draenie or blood elf so I think it’s completely fine. I have a few friends who weren’t real fans of classic but loved tbc and they will likely come back now that the option is there.
Although I like the 1 per account 58 boost option Id be naive to think that this doesn’t potentially open a route to more payed services in the future.
If they keep it 1 per account and put a fair price for it I think we will survive 58 boosts. Its just 1 per account at least for now. I havn’t heard what the price is/would be.
Someone typed in the forums a moment ago that it was 10$ which sounds ludicrousto me. Imo it needs to be much more than that at least at the 25$ level or even more.
Cause leveling to 58 is trivial and takes little effort, if some idiot wants to spend money to get a 58 in bad blues for TBC it doesn’t matter. It’s all fake outrage really
This right here.
Also its good for players like me that only have 1 or 2 60s now for what ever reason, and want another moving into TBC.
