Worst thing I hear right now is “ I was forced to switch to other spec , because the one I played is underperforming”
So let’s clear this now.
It’s not vanilla anymore where classes where unbalanced and partially unfinished forcing you to choose more talents in certain three or even play certain role
Find a casual guild that raids!! It’s not a single player game. Find a guild and you can run whatever you want and will make amazing progression. Even progression guilds will take you no matter what spec you’re playing. Show them you want to raid and that you are good at mechanics
Don’t get fooled by Warcraft logs , or some third party website telling you this spec is great and this one is bad. I have balance Druid and MM hunter , and I struggle to compete in dps, but when I switch to specs I’m really experienced, I top the charts most of the time with people that are equal and sometimes better geared.
If you really really really really depend on LFG then see what people play and look for. If not get a guild and play whatever you want it will be absolutely fine
wouldnt have thought that would have been too hard to figure out, lol.
A while back in here healers were complaining no one would invite them if they didnt have Brez. lol.
I personally believe that every spec has its niche uses, and something they excel at.
MDI is not an indicator that only those 5 classes are good and rest suck. No, maybe those are better by a few %, but a few % matter for the top 0.1% of the playerbase.
Play what you like. Invest time into getting better and more skillful. Learn gimmicks and you will be amazing and highly desired.
Yea there is some truth there , but still let’s say for normal you can still gear up enough before these bosses to have that dps. I don’t know for mythic raiding it’s different, but you won’t see to much mythic raiders complain about specs on forums.
Well, to be clear, all specs are viable.
The people you might be discussing here may either not realize that, because people continually use the wrong words, or because they misunderstand things easily.
But people often think they need to control every variable possible in order to succeed.
This is not the case.
The game is not made so hard that you would need to do this.
The only time you need to do this is when you are competing against other players, and that leads to anxiety about underperforming for many.
But make no mistake.
Its not the GAME doing this.
Once people understand that, I feel like its easier to come to terms with what you are doing in the game.
It shouldn’t be an unreasonable expectation for classes to be reasonably balanced. FFXIV manages this but somehow in 16 years, WoW has never been able to figure this out? It feels really bad when there is a spec/flavor you really enjoy but you end up being subpar compared to everyone you play with simply because of the spec’s balance or lackthereof.
It’s kinda funny cause 99.9% of the people aren’t doing things where it matters that much.
Sure, if you’re in that .01 percent that is competing and going for world firsts, then it matters. But of course, if competing and world firsts are your bag, you aren’t going to complain about non-viable specs, you’re just going to play the meta cause winning is more important than what spec you’re playing.
I played Marks in 8.3 and then I tried Havoc late in 8.3. As havoc, I timed the same keys with much less experience/gear, was welcomed to more groups, and it was much easier. It felt great and I actually got stuff done.
Plus, I like a lot of specs, so it’s highly likely that I enjoy at least one of the OP ones. And if that’s the case, I will play something OP.
If I can be more helpful to the people I’m working with, I will.
But you can’t ignore that this is an MMO and not a single player RPG. You have to understand that to remain competitive, even in a smaller pool of players, picking the weakest of all the choices you have is going to have you on the bench. It doesn’t matter how good you are when you could easily practice a spec that would increase your output exponentially, not by mere percentage points.
Disagree, only because doing so might make you play worse long term.
Pick what you love, and play it to the best of your ability.
The game is not tuned tightly enough to dissuade this.
Because playing weak specs sucks especially if you like pushing content.
Every class is capable of pushing KSM and beyond and clearing M CN. But playing a weak class/spec, even if you enjoy it, feels like a self imposed handicap.
It’s like pointing to those guys who beat Dark Souls naked, or even with a banana as a controller and saying “you can do it, those guys did”, when the problem isn’t the possibility of doing so, it’s that making your life harder by making suboptimal choices is a niche form of enjoyment.
