Basically the title. I want to know why so many people are against PvP-PvE transfers.
The way I see it, many people are now on PvP servers who would enjoy the game much more on a PvE server where they could choose to flag for PvP or not. I think Blizzard should offer (paid) transfers PvP-PvE and have it on a six month cool down.
The objections to this seem to be:
1.) I don’t want the game to slide down the slippery slope to being like retail.
I guess this is valid, but I don’t think Blizzard will make any changes to this game outside of bug fixes. This game is made to be a museum piece, not a constantly updated game.
2.) People transferring ruins server communities.
This is probably somewhat true. But the reality is, you’re going to loose those people anyway if they’re unhappy. You’ll just loose them a bit slower.
3.) Hardcore gatekeeping.
Yeah, there’s some serious gatekeeping going on with this game. There seems to be this sentiment among the Pserver crowd that this is their game and anybody that doesn’t enjoy it the same way they do shouldn’t be in their game. These people need to stop it. If you want the PvP servers, by all means, have them. All I’m saying is, let the people leave who want to leave.
Okay, flame away.

I’ve already said I’m for transfers on servers with a worse than 40/60 ratio. 45/55 type servers don’t need these transfers.
I’m not go but stop crying when you do leave.

No problem with transfers at all.
Faction balance will get pointed to, but as you said, unhappy people will wind up leaving anyway.

Why? If they player isn’t happy the ratio doesn’t matter. Let them pay to fix their mistake.
Paid transfers were confirmed to be coming.

They can re-roll. Why ruin balanced servers for just the few really imbalanced ones?

Wouldn’t a reroll still ruin the server? Either way the server is a man down. From the servers perspective it’s the same.

Nope. The amount who would re roll wouldn’t be close to the amount who transfer.

So, you think that the unhappy players will just suck it up and keep playing? Is that what you would do if you’re unhappy with something you’re paying for?

If I was unhappy I’d re roll like I actually did twice for diff reasons.

They 100% should
People who are unhappy will either reroll or quit. So to keep the sub #s up they should
Servers that are imbalanced will collapse regardless, might as well save the ones you can

did you reroll because your imp was named jabnip or something? XD
So then they would just quit. In the end you still lose a player.
The only reason to be against it is hoping the player would just grit their teeth and deal with being unhappy.
I am all for letting the pve crowd transfer off and let the pvpers sort out their problems. They will reroll/transfer to get that pvp utopia they want so bad. They seem to be more dedicated to this game anyway so I dont see them leaving.

Like I said, not allowing transfers will just ruin the server balance a bit slower. You’ll have a few reroll. The loss of those will affect a few more. Then they’ll reroll. That affects a few more people, ect. Either way the servers will still bleed players.

There was a Q&A with the classic wow developers. https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/ct08c7/welcome_to_the_rclassicwow_subreddit_ama_with_the/
Their stance is that transfers were a feature of classic wow and they consider it be an option they will restrict to higher level characters.

I don’t think anyone is against them.
I think people have been saying that they are not currently avaialble so re-rolling is a better idea for you currently if you don’t like PvP servers.
Paid transfers will come soon™ (likely months not weeks)

Started Alliance on Grob with some forum posters. Then switched to a pve server as alliance to chase around a horde premade. But got bored with a pve server fast and my husband started a horde on Grob so I deleted my Alliance here and started this undead.

I think it’s clear that Blizz thinks PvP will calm down significantly with BG release and that after that a lot of the people who otherwise would have left won’t.
