Why are WoW players so angry?

Most times I need to use trade chat (which I try not to use too often) there always seems to be really angry people. People arguing, ganging up on each other, forming little battle lines. It feels like anything anyone says is subject to a snide whisper, an attempt to shame or ratio, or something destructive. I want to read some speculation, but I fear it might be the old cliche that misery loves company.

I’ve been noticing the same thing, especially running dungeons.

I unironically think it’s because they need to touch grass and this is coming from someone who basically never leaves the house.
I don’t leave the house because I’m broke and I do art, so I’m fine sitting inside sculpting for 12 hours a day, not talking to anyone. I have my purpose.

But other people seem to be addicted to the game, that’s why they aren’t going outside. Which is really bad. I really started thinking this after I started climbing up in keys. People are getting more and more grouchy and salty for no reason, people with really high IO right now. You know how much you need to play to be almost 3k IO right now lol.

Its a symptom of how sick/ill our society is getting. Look at all the road rage, school violence, terrorism, violent crime, and general jerkiness all around us.

Our morals are out of whack. Our lives are out of whack. Our whole society is out of whack.

Because I was playing Crusader Kings 3 and my game bugged out and I got stuck in a forever war with no way of getting out of it!

:rage:

Come to moon guard. You don’t have any of this.

Without even knowing server you are from. I can guess you are in Stormrage.

Imagine people on a treadmill that never stops and they’re really hungry. Now imagine that treadmill wearing them out while they chase a mcd’s happy meal and a coke. Now imagine the harder the treadmill program they get a wee little bit more added to it!

That’s why! They’re exhausted, starved, and worn out but they keep going anyway.

1). Jaded/dejected feelings via unmet expectations for a game they’re very passionate about.

2). Poor ability to regulate their emotions.

3). Poor ability to separate their minds from game world and reality.

What server? I’m on a lot and even ones like stormrage, with ‘‘RAGE’’[lol] in the name, have normal convo’s in trade chat…

Well, my short answer is income inequality. Income instability. There are people getting richer everyday, and fewer move up and more down on the SES

Social media reminds me of everyone and everything being shown that I don’t have nor probably need, but it gets marketed like endless pipe dreams.

Go to Disney! But this F350! Go on a cruise. Lose weight! Buy a cake! The {insert exclusive island} adventure awaits you! Why work 50 hours a week for chump change when you can make billions on TikTok

Stress of not just keeping up with the Jones’ but the entire world now

Also social media algorithms send you down rabbit holes of anger against X. Feeding your frustration

Because every time I find a Blood in the Water, some other moron tries to fish from it.

This is the playerbase Blizzard has been working hard for multiple expansions to attract to the game. Being a winner is the only thing that matters in esports, and Blizzard is still convinced that the game’s future is esports.

As ye sow so shall ye reap.

I don’t think it’s this because I guarantee I am the poorest person in here and I don’t get all mad like how I’m seeing.

It’s an emotional thing that people need to work on with themselves, probably a lack of purpose more than anything.
You don’t really need money in life, if you have food and shelter you’re fine, you’re just sad because you don’t have luxuries.

I’m sure that you have but I have not seen any blatant displays of anger, especially not in trade chat where you can be silenced.

We see this pretty consistently and then they show up on the forums saying stupid things but at the end of the day the expansion always does well and they come back anyway. If you dont like it you are more than free to criticize but a better way is to withhold your money. Personally Im happy with the game rn but thats what Id do if it was a Shadowlands 2.0

Regarding dungeon/raid groups:
Convenience has given way to entitlement.
In ages past when you had to be a generally half-decent person to join a group, because you had to actually interact with other human beings, people would curb their behaviors. Moreover, everything being immediate and GO GO GO, FASTER FASTER FASTER has made any perceived barrier to speed as something worthy of white-hot rage.

Regarding general attitudes, people have been burned before and think that this means the best way to view the world is through a lens of embittered cynicism. To not invest themselves into anything or anyone in a positive way because they could get the rug pulled out from under them. Instead, this leads to investing themselves negatively-- if something good goes awry, it’s bad, but if something you’re convinced is bad goes awry, it’s already bad, so it’s not as much of a problem.

Forgive the half-coherent rambling. Just a thought or two.

That’s why I have a turkey shooter toy on my bars. 5 minute cooldown to make the person look like a fool. Hopefully it pisses them off as well.

Stop with the lies. I am on moon guard.

What they say at 3.00 is naughty not violent.

Just naked toons twerking on mail boxes.

No going to moon guard ever again.

Fool me once……
