Why are World Quests SO AWFUL?!?

“Collect 6 Swollen Kobyss Eyes” - They spawn once every 6 minutes and there are 3 mobs that drop them, and 9 other people trying to get them, and they have a 35% drop chance btw.

“Kill 15 kobolds” - There are 4 of them that spawn once every 9 minutes and 11 other people also competing for them.

“Kill 15 Worms” - Again, there are 4 of them that spawn once every 3rd full moon and the entire server is competing for them.

Also, they reward you with essentially nothing. What awful design is this.

I think devs sometimes get so in the weeds designing systems and quests that they forget the most important part for the customer. Its supposed to be fun.

Its not fun waiting 3 minutes to hop on my flying mount to just not make it in time to pick off the spawn someone got across the world quest area and is burning them down in 2 seconds.

MMOs should just have other players appear as ghosts if they arent in your party.

Its impossible to design good overworld contrnt when anybody can just come along and kill the mobs for you/before you.

World quests being awful isn’t anything new. They cease being content I pursue when I outgear the gear drops. rewards have hardly ever been worth the trouble.

I have to agree.
Waiting around for things to spawn in a crowded world quest actually had me just log off instead.
The respawn rates need to improve drastically.

Yep it’s pretty awful honestly.

At no point while doing world quests have I thought “This is a fun use of my time” - it’s always “Ugh this is so stupid, there are no mobs even to kill.”

Not only that, the 27 Valorstones (2000/2000 btw) and 11gold reward is completely pointless. I can go do like, anything else for more gold. A single bismuth node is worth like 15 quests…

Spent 15 minutes trying to do the worm one and only had 5 out of 15, but what’s funny is it shows up for non-80’s and the mobs are level 80??

This problem is exasperated by the fact that people nuke the mobs the second they spawn. Gotta be fast as light to tag them

Blame the druid farmers for the low spawn rate. Blizz is trying to have a healthy economy in which cloth is worth more then 10 copper coins.

Blizzard had a total hit on them when they first came out with world quests in Legion.

Then for some reason they spent subsequent expansions making them as awful as possible.

Most likely. We created a society that celebrates every small thing. They probably made this once played it a couple times maybe with 2 other devs doing it as well.

“Seems good. Now lets go pack the Hallowfall world quest with a bunch of stacked mobs.”

Nerd high five where they miss the first time and have to do it again slower

Its like there was a shift in the gaming industry that devs became fun police and have to monitor everything on the basis is it too much fun, well cant have that.

The “Kill X” quests are rough because competition and spawn times. Once more content is opened up, competition will naturally thin itself out over different things.
