Old threads can provide context for how an issue has evolved over time. If you have a problem, and there’s a 5 year old thread about that problem, bumping that will probably give your issue more weight than a fresh post.

But some forums will lock a thread if its old, AND lock a thread if its been made before…doesn’t make sense at all
