I played a TON of BFA. Especially BFA S4. I am literally wearing the Azeroth’s Champion title.
BFA S4 was not a good season. Horrific Visions were heavily disliked, particularly the punishment aspect. Corruptions were completely disgusting until they added the vendor, but even then they did some cringe of putting the corruptions the vendor sold on a rotation.
Of course they’ll be different this time around, but why are we bringing back themes/gameplay features from a really bad expansion/patch.

Re-doing something is a lot less work than doing something different, saves time.
I’m excited for Horrific Visions again.

I was very vocal about then and now about how awesome they were. By far the best solo content blizzard has made. The problem this time is they will not reward mythic gear, so I get to thinking they will probably be well tuned down (even at 5 masks).
I should also mention at the time I was heroic raiding, so was able to progress through them quite quickly. Right now I am pure delves/lfr only.
If I cant progress to 5 masks purely through delves and lfr gearing I will consider the system a big failure. This should NOT be content for heroic/mythic geared raiders IMO.
I dunno I really liked horrific visions. I was really happy when I finally was able to solo them with all the masks. It was a nice challenge, not only did you have to focus on enemies but other mechanics as well.
You forgot a form of content.
I have only been back two weeks what I forget?
I think visions were a good form of soloable content.
The other stuff was just one of an endless number of examples of annoyances they put in to extend the grind that they should have done better from the start. I think they intentionally release things more annoying and see how much people hate it and then probably have pre-existing solutions they role out until it reaches a tolerable level.

If they are designed to be completed with LFR quality gear, as you ask. There is no way they can give mythic quality
Sorry I am taking into account they DONT give mythic gear. So I am saying 5 masking them and getting heroic track gear rewards should NOT require mythic gear. If they did reward mythic gear needing near max upgraded heroic gear and optimisations would be fine with me and a great way to let solo players scale into mythic track gear (like they originally did).

Beats me, part of me feel like they’re testing the waters for delves going forward with HV.
Not only that but it gives me more reason to play the game.
I liked Horrific Visions. 
You and I seem to remember 8.3 very differently.
Horrific Visions in and of themselves were pretty well liked. Most of the complaints were about all the other systems surrounding them (having to do the whole cloak thing on every character, no account wide Titanic Research, Corruptions, etc.)

It was arguably the best season of BfA.

You’re confusing it with the currency and the corruption gear. Different things.
Yep. The vendor was both badly implemented, as well as implemented too late. There was too much RNG behind the acquisition of them, and all corruptions were not created equal.
With that being said, it was some of the most fun mechanics this game ever saw and once you got past the hurdle of getting them, people generally liked them.

Yeah I remember 8.3 being very well received. It was the earlier problems with azerite gear that wasn’t well received in that expac.
I never did much BFA.
Could someone please give a TLDR of what Horrific Visions are? I’m reading here it’s solo content, but to do what, and is it bite-sized like delves? Or a long grind?
