Why are toys more annoying than fun?

What I mean is… why do they last such short durations, but have long cooldown timers? What’s wrong with us using some of these cosmetic type ones for as long as we want to?

I just got the Sparkle Wings toy out of a calling box. The wings last 3 minutes, the cooldown is 5 minutes. Granted, that’s better than an hour or day cooldown… but why can’t we just have fun with it for as long as we want without breaks in between or having to reapply it?

Proposal: let us use some of these cosmetic toys that give us wings and the like be a permanent buff that we can click off with no cooldown so that we can actually have fun with these things for longer than 3 lousy minutes.

Agreed. I could understand if it is something that could be annoying other players (the Stonewrought Sentry). But not sure why a cosmetic toy has such a long CD.

Hell, I’d love to play as an Arakkoa all day long.

Agreed, though I can’t think of any annoying ones off the top of my head besides the train set but I play with sound off anyways

A use-time and cooldown is what implies the quality of the toy, if you ask me.

If something can just be used over and over again, or once with no cooldown and unlimited time, just seems like it would be a crap toy. Something with a long cooldown and moderate use timer kind of says to me, that’s a more special toy.

I legit don’t understand the 1-2 hour cooldown on 5 minute appearance changing items.

I love this idea so I could do permanent gnome DH and Shaman and Paladin, it would be a bit of a hassle to do gnome Druid if it turns off every time I shapeshift

It shouldn’t. I use transformation toys all the time on my druid like the vrykul drinking horn and I stay a vrykul while in bear form spam thrashing everything.

The pet mirror toys. Has a LOT of potential but is wasted by a HOUR LONG COOLDOWN with a TEN MINUTE BUFF.

I got my wing toy today and was also bummed by the duration.
I really wish it was a mount…
but could at least be like the eternal black diamond ring toy.

it really is ridiculous. i get a new toy and think “oh, this is awesome!” and go to add it to my bars. then i see it lasts 5 minutes and has a 4-hour cooldown. then i remove it from my bars because it’s pointless, and i forget it exists.

Unpopular opinion I’m sure: Toys should have been consumables and not permanent.

I mean give them charges and stuff too obviously. But restocking toys by spending time farming, and toss some into professions, would provide a limiter/throttle on things that permanent toys can’t have.

I get not wanting people to be spamming them left and right non-stop and it may be silly at times. But it gets just as silly with how inaccessible some toys are instead.

I love my reflecting prism. But it’s a consumable with a bunch of charges. It’s my favorite toy. I love turning people into glowy/fiery kitty and glowy bear during raids. I kind of think that’s how all toys should have been.

Mind you, I’m not advocating for changing things like that though, it’s a bit late now. But looking back, I think it would have been a better paradigm.

To me, that’s what makes it an infinitely better toy: because I can actually use it all the time.

I get them not wanting us to have our appearance changed permanently by a toy, but a 1 hour cooldown on a lot of these things is a bit much.

The appearance change ones I get. Like turning into a Vrykul or Arrakoa. But wings? An outfit? That’s just frustrating, imo.

right! and the other side is that if the cooldown is too long, you never even bother using it and you forget it exists. i don’t think that was their intent when designing these toys either.

I hate it when I can’t play with my toys whenever I want.

It’s like being grounded.

Bleh.
