I seem to be the only one bothered by this. The Alliance has a plethora of powerhouses akin to demi-gods and the Horde has not a single character that is an equal of their strongest demi-god.
The Alliance has:
Anduin
Velen
Malfurion
Tyrande
Alleria
Jaina
The Horde has:
Talanji
Sylvanas? Maybe?
How does Blizzard look at this allotment of power and decide that this is an agreeable arrangement? Those 6 characters alone could debatably end the faction war via decimation of the Horde.
Thrall has been depowered.
Saurfang has been nerfed.
Kael’thas was wasted for the sake of plot.
Thalyssra is by far the weakest mage we’ve seen with plot significance.
Any other leader not named isn’t worth mentioning…
I just don’t get it. Add to that, the Alliance has two spaceships in orbit with aerial bombardment capabilities so not only are we physically outclassed, but technologically as well.
Why has their been zero plot development to fix this? It’s nonsensical the war even continues with this blatant imbalance.

These characters will do what the plot demands…
That is the reason why they dont use their full power or all the tech and army at their disposal.
The horde has only sylvanas and maybe talanji now that she has the power of the loa of the dead but still we saw how it ended for ol’rasthakan…
This is what bothers me the most. A heavy dose of plot induced stupidity is necessary for these leaders to not drop what their doing and just wipe us off the map. Malfurion and Jaina have the feats to destroy entire cities solo via Malfurion’s gigantic twisters or Jaina’s ability to drop an ocean on Orgrimmar.
It’s like they’ve gone out of their way to remove potentially powerful characters that could equal the Alliance leaders from the Horde.
I did forget about Talanji. I’ll add her.

It ultimately doesn’t really matter when someone like Jaina can be reduced to less than emotionally ruined garbage when her family rejects her return to Kul Tiras and her people in turn despise her.
Imagen what they would think of her now if they found out she was working with the Horde I imagen there would more than a vengeful few style kind of Alliance fanatics liken to her Fathers nature that would happily oust her from her place at the stories helm.
Regrettably we don’t get to have a say and we’re stuck on this rudderless course waiting for Sylvanas to sink the ship.

The Alliance could lose Jaina and still have an unbeatable pantheon of Gods.

If they worked together. Organisations like the Alliance are very prone to falling apart from the inside.

I think it’s the result of Blizzard placing rule of cool/shock value above actual storytelling. They like taking the Horde to extremes and then, when they realized their “cool, edgy plot” has made the character irredeemable, they kill them. It’s all comic book level, short term “in this issue, the shocking death of Superman/Batman/Spider-Man” thinking, and it leaves no room for building up replacement characters.

And yet thus far the horde is the only one that has shown any internal division with one civil war and about to kick off another. Really would be nice if they showed that in alliance

We’ll never find out if this is a true statement. Jaina’s plot armor will NEVER allow her to die.

Neither will Anduin. One of the canon web comics showed a brief panel of the future with Anduin in old age… His plot armor is also confirmed.

He was still fighting the Legion in that comic. I’d say it’s got a good chance of being AU after we beat up Sargeras.

Technically sagreas can come back if he breaks out somehow
Oh, certainly, and if WoW lives that long I don’t doubt they’ll find a way to bring him back. But that future is still by no means certain at this point in time.
I feel like this is an inevitably. We’re running out of enemies to defeat within the lore.
We have the Shadowlands potentially and aspects of the Void/Light left. They have to recycle something.
Its unfortunate really.
I have this creeping feeling that the Alliance are going to have that internal conflict sprung on them as a “Oh this happened while we we’re fighting the Horde” point that shatters their union.
Gods or not the Alliance don’t appear to show any sign of weakness or fracturing after these repetitive strings of wars and failed High Kings. Something has to give eventually if nothing does then we’re truly trapped in a fanfiction where the immortal Alliance will always rise above the unstoppable Hordes evil advances one warchief at a time.
The alliance can only fracture if the horde isnt written as evil because if the fractured now sylvabas would blight the world likely
I really hope they dont do a the light is evil arc that just feels like the most over done thing around

I feel like they have to at this point.
We have the Death entities
We have the Void entities
We have the Light entities
and maybe Sargeras and Azeroth
There’s nothing left after that unless they shoehorn in some stupidly powerful character that has yet to do anything for us to be aware of it.

Maybe but light bad feels like the most gradeschool level of overused twist

It’s also going to feel like they’re copying FFXIV after Shadobringers, whether they are or not.
