Why are there so many fake ore nodes?

Well, either fake, or buried under dungeon dressing rocks put there to smooth things out at the last minute… I am so sick of spending 5 minutes looking for a node that turns out to be behind the geometry… Am I the only one noticing this? The herb nodes nearby are placed way out from these.

It’s ridiculous. Especially after the caverns opened. The holes around them have all kinds of ore nodes that are buried deep behind the geometry… Either fix them or delete them so I don’t spend extra time figuring out the node is un-lootable. I’ve never seen this issue like this in previous expansions.

Either it’s a bug they haven’t found the time to fix, or it was on purpose because bots.

I wonder if I look like a bot when I’m trying to find it while swearing at the game. LOL

I don’t know man. From all the times I have seen a node on my map but can’t find the actual thing, I am sure I look like one to them.

there were buried/under the ground nodes back in legion. There was actually one near the mouth of a cave where with enough fussing you could get your view to clip the terrain and actually make it clickable. Blizzard responded by moving the node further back, so it was no longer in reach.

Then theres the one where the literally just placed an entire house on top of it.

Overall its either inept work on the part of the developers and quality control, or its just another design choice intended to make gameplay miserable for humans “because of bots”. Which is pretty inept in its own right. Easier to just let the cheats have fewer nodes to take from the humans, and mote nodes that humans see, but cannot even get too.

That’s an issue from beta like remember even seeing ore nodes floating in the sky like shocked it isn’t fixed yet.

not going to lie I thought you were talking about those herb or ore nodes that the second you try to harvest them they vanish and give you nothing. Yeah they locked a lot of nodes in caves and worse they made these caves only able to be opened by miners more times than not so… yeah that kinda sucks for herbalists when a amazing node ends up in a cave

No Q/A

There are still impossible to get ore nodes in Nazjatar floating in the sky. I don’t think its bait for bots because bots can be programmed to avoid them since the affected nodes are static and never change once known. Its far more likely that its just garbage programing.

They’ve been sloppy about this for a while, but DF has really pushed it to new levels of frustration by combining sloppiness with a form of transportation that is less forgiving of buggy crap.

And whichever sooper genius on the zone design team thought putting nodes inside caves that straddle the borders of phased zones should be slapped upside the head.

At least you have a chance of landing on those. If you can stand on it, then you can mine it.

I haven’t seen too many invisible nodes, sometimes they’re just in a different cave that you have to go outside to find the entrance to. There is a spot in Ohnahran plains with lots of overlapping caves that I just stopped bothering with nodes in. There is one expedition scout pack that I can never loot near a waterfall near ohniri springs.

Lots of bugged nodes that are underground or on the border of zones as someone mentioned

Same thing with expedition scout packs.

It’s so frustrating

You can get Expedition Explosives from the Cataloger Jakes that you can use to blow open those caves if you’re not a miner.

I think it’s from them tossing the node down and someone came along and redesigned the areas and they didn’t update the node location if it was under something.

I reported such problematic nodes and it looks like nothing was ever done.

Prob cause the way they work is they check their notes and see it’s how it’s supposed to be even though it doesn’t show updated terrain and close it. Rather then checking on the actual location and fixing it.

I’ve found sometimes with inaccessible dirt piles that seem to be buried or behind rocks that using the Anomaly Detection Mark 1 ability will show them and let you loot them. Not sure if that’s intended or the location of the piles is just bad programming.

It’s pretty rampant. My favorites are the ones you can’t land on, but are on the sides of cliffs that you can’t reach either.

It’s not unlootable if you’re close to it.

For those that don’t know, use this to get to nodes you’re close to but can’t see under terrain. Same for treasures, enable your interact key:

There’s legit a mining node…

… in a tree. Up… in the tree. Like, in the leaves. In the Waking Shores. Haven’t mined in a while so don’t remember the tree or even know whether or not it’s been fixed. But it’s a treat to see.

Treet* to see

if a node is in the sky, you should be able to land on it

This goes back to WoD with some nodes being under trees or rocks… they have never shown any interest in fixing them. I dunno why.

They have at least tried to address the ever phasing nodes in some Cataclysm zones though.
