Why are there no ways to purchase past elite sets/elite weapons/illusions if you have the achievements?

If you have the achievement from that time and that season but somehow did not end up with the illusion (this happened with MoP and WoD enchants), or pieces of that elite set or did not buy all of the elite weapons because you had no idea warbands were coming and your class couldn’t use those weapons, there should definitely be a way to buy them as long as you have the achievement from that time and season.

I think its kind of insane that this is double dipping on fomo for pvpers. First you need to be there and put in the work to earn the achievement, and then you need to skillfully predict warbands in the future and buy every single weapon from the vendor to throw in your bank because they become unpurchasable.

I don’t want rewards brought back for people to earn again, however I do think every reward from every season should remain buyable (legion elite sets, mop/wod challenge modes) as long as you have gotten the correct achievement from that season.

Blizzard’s logic is that you didn’t get awarded the whole elite set for getting, say, 2200. You were required to maintain that rating until you could buy the whole set. I’ve had this conversation with them before.

Technical limitations, I guess. They didn’t add a “you qualified” thing until Legion, and probably only because you couldn’t reliably acquire the whole set or something.

Even in Dragonflight you had to buy Warglaives in s1-2 if you didn’t get them on DH in the hopes that one day you could add them to collection.

They recognized it was an issue after wod which is why legion had a specific achievement for 2k that lets you go back even today afaik

But back then elite sets and rewards had conquest costs which maybe in hindsight was some sort of intentional gating to keep the reward prestigious by requiring you to maintain the rating

Either way if you didn’t buy all the pieces it’s assumed you didn’t have the currency which means you didn’t earn it “”””””

Yep. Having the currency was part of “earning it”, and they have no way of tracking currency at the time, even if there’s some way to verify rating.

I understand that though I don’t think the currency should really matter at all, but if thats the case for things back then I guess fine.

What about everything post WoD? Legion has elite sets on the vendors. What about elite weapon arsenals for DF? and duelist arsenals for Shadowlands? We should be getting those as well. I’m unsure if legion had elite weapons or not but count that too if it did.

Having to upgrade every single individual weapon to rank 8 in shadowlands with honor was already dumb, but if you didn’t predict warbands then you likely only upgraded what your class could use at the time, which is also very dumb. Or if you had time constraints because upgrading everything took a long time (including the duelist gear) you may have missed some. Sitting at 15k honor cap for weeks to suddenly need 150k honor is pretty insane.

Really think at least those things listed above should be on a vendor. If you put in the time and got the achievement, thats all that should be needed. Nobody could have predicted warbands especially with their stance on account wide stuff being so bad during legion/bfa.

Bc you can buy and sell accounts and move characters between and achieve stays.

So I could sell account. Move character to new bnet, go to vendor and buy all glad mounts/mogs/enchants rinse repeat.

Honor requirement, similar to conquest one.

Sure.

You cannot do that anymore. Bnet transfers died with TWW pre patch.

Good riddance. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Sure but the honor requirement was just bad, it was worse than conq because you sat at 15k honor for a while and then suddenly needed a massive amount. If there was no honor cap it would have been fine, but sitting at 15k for weeks then suddenly needing 150k or so was ridiculous.

Definitely think those should go on a vendor regardless of the honor requirement.

Edit: Also they said nothing about upgrading weapons or armor pieces to elite granting new appearances. Players had to figure that out themselves, a lot of people didn’t even know until the end of the season in s2 lmao.

Odang…

Well shiii let then vendors should have all elite sets/glad mounts/enchants on them and if you got achieve you can rebuy it. Since they stopped bnet character movement.

Agreed. I think they should add this in. It doesn’t impact me, but it’d still be better for the game IMO.

Just to be clear I believe hes saying they should have a vendor and if you have the -past- achievements you can rebuy it, not if you currently get duelist/elite or something.

Which would definitely be better overall. Anyone with elite from s1 df should be able to go back and buy those weapons if they didn’t buy some during s1. Same for SL, if you have the duelist achievement from the respective season you should be able to buy those weapons. Pretty much anything post WoD should be this way. The fact these things go away completely even if you earn the achievement at the time is kinda crazy, and I really dislike the fact it is so random whether that happens or not ie legion elite sets/wod or mop cms, etc. So if you have that achievement from that specific season, you should be able to go back and get what you didn’t buy.
