Like zero…what the heck? Is there something wrong with rogues? Sub rogues are doing quite a bit of damage but never brought to raids.
its because they are by far the worst pure dps class. If you look at tier lists by spec, theres not a single other pure dps class below rogues. Also its better to bring ranged dps > melee dps if damage is equal. Plus rogue doesnt bring any utility to the table whatsoever, so in short, theres no reason to bring them. Trash tier pve class

Uh rogue does bring utility.
Cloak is an immune that can be used on things like traps for Xymoc. The issue is unholy is stronger numbers wise and has the same utility.
we have 1 spec thats a low damage dot spec and 2 specs thats a gimmick.
Neither sub or outlaw are gimmick specs.
Melee. There’s something wrong with melee.
The game, fundamentally, is ranged-biased. Melee are always a liability. And right now, the ranged are ALSO bringing much more damage. So why bring a single melee? Hunters, Warlocks and Boomies are all the DPS you need. Bring a token mage for Arcane Intellect and a Vengeance Demon Hunter for chaos brand and you’re all set.
If you’re going to risk your composition by bringing a single melee it would have to be for their utility - not their damage. For their damage you’d have to also bring a battle shout and a monk-debuff and now you’re snowballing into a composition that has far too much melee for a world-first race.
Rogues do bring Cloak of Shadows, which has at times in the past validated their raid spot. But it’s just not enough right now. Unholy brings a similar soak immune and does significantly more damage and doesn’t require battle shout + monk debuff to do so.
In short, this is a melee problem, not specifically a rogue problem.
Even trying to get into a group as a melee is god-aweful. In BfA I had 0 issues getting into groups. Shadowlands, I’m lucky I get into a +4/5.
Yea his post pretty much described the issue. The issue really is melee. For some reason most mechanics just crap all over melee, probably because they are closest to mobs/bosses. For example, If a rdps pulls aggro, he can simply run even further away and stop dps until the tank picks aggro back up, due to his spacing between the mobs. They have way more time to react. Melee pulls aggro and just gets backhanded once and dies.
Another example, the new Storming affix says it spawns “near mobs”…well guess who fights near mobs? Melee, not ranged. Storming rarely makes it way out to ranged from the mythics I’ve been in.
Ranged have TONS of advantages. They rarely ever need to stop dps. Shark boss from BfA was a perfect example of that. Melee have to run a lot more around crap, dodge, just to be able to continue dps.
PVE definitely caters to ranged more.

For as long as I can remember raids have pretty much always been more ranged friendly. The new affix for m+ and a lot of boss/trash mechanics being so melee unfriendly feels like overcompensation for bfa dungeons favoring melee.
Playing rogue for the first time I’m realizing how melee unfriendly M+ is. There’s no advantage to bring a rogue, when literally any ranged class can do more damage and don’t have to deal with the inherent disadvantage of melee. Just poor design by Blizzard.
WF race will be vastly different from the more typical mythic raid. These people are heroic geared with a couple mythic pieces sprinkled in from the one lockout, boes, and the one weekly chest.

Cloak
Sap
Blind
Gouge
Vanish pulls

Other than shroud, nothing about that list is utility that is unique to rogues.
Its because Blizzard designs these crazy encounters now. People cant just do their rotations while dealing with the occasional mechanic.
Now entire encounters are about doing a constant dance requiring melee to reposition more often.
Well, in m+ there’s some advantage to a rogue. My group specifically wanted one for skips and more interrupts/stuns.
However I will say that these dungeons don’t really have big skips that I’ve seen so far with how tight the percentages seem. And…yeah melee is a lot harder than range. And rogue is harder than most other classes to do well.

LOL weren’t you saying how Outlaw was god tier in PVE yet here we are and no one of any serious note is playing it in PVE.
So outlaw is trash tier in PVE and trash tier in PVP. Perfectly balanced as all things.

Only people who is biased can’t see how bad rogue current state is at currently.
Everyone knows since week 2 that rogues are mid-tier DPS, and with Mythic raiding out, rogues are the worst pure melee class.
While hybrid classes such as WW/Feral/Pally/DK are on par or even better than Rogues.
Even Havoc has a spot over Rogues because they bring REAL utility to the raid with their brand. Rogues only have CoS, but majority of classes have better personal CDs and immunity anyway so it is a wash.
