Why are the Horde Leaders so wimpy compared to Alliance

Alliance Leaders

  • Jaina is an incredible Mary Sue IMO. She is a god on earth. Single handedly turned the tide at Lorderon. Able to withstand an entire raid and live?! The Stormwind jailbreak was basically "run from Jaina "

  • Other OP mage: Khadgar. The man can do incredible feats with ease.

  • Malfurion and Tyrande come to think of it are also ridiculously overpowered in lore.

Horde Leaders

Who do the Horde have that can even hold a candle to anyone above?

  • Nathanos…has…axes i guess?
  • Baine can charge people.
  • Zappy Boi is a level 56 shaman
  • Sylvanas got her behind handed to her by Malfurion
  • Rexar is awesome but again…another warrior fighter type.
  • Talanji is getting good would like to see more but im not sure if she can stand up to Jaina or Malfurion one-on-one

Its clear these warrior fighter types would never be able to compete with someone who can fly a frigate in the air and shoot arcane cannon artillary at a city.

The Horde need someone strong. Like a warlock, or a shadow-hunter shadow priest, someone that is awesome powerful like a Jaina level.

One day Thrall will be back though you just wait:cry:
Hey, at least anyone on Horde could beat Anduin.

I’d rather Warriors in WoW have the PC’s anime-tier strength made canon.

Justify it as Warriors inadvertently tapping into life energy, like Monks’ Chi, to be abnormally athletic. Some Warriors could have larger reservoirs of energy than others (like Racial Leaders having large pools of life energy, but footman having little pools.)

Thats kind of the vibe I get from Rexar and Saurfang. But it is clear in the current story that Jania and Malfurion could destory either of them.

I think the alliance needs those super op characters as leaders though since I see the horde as a whole as much more powerful than the alliance. Not even just physically either.

You also forgot Anduin. He incinerated a dreadlord with his bare hands, leapt aboard a 30 foot high siege tank and one shot it by stabbing it with his sword. He also survived a point blank banshee scream from Sylvanas which should have been fatal and mass rezzed an entire army.

Khadgar is not an Alliance leader.

This story is so bad I wonder why people still take it seriously.

The sad thing is, Sylvanas is probably one of our most powerful leaders. However, even Glenn was able to stand toe to toe against her for a short amount of time - and he is just some random dog.

Because good people don’t sign on to join with undead armies. this never ends well. Never, ever, eva……

because allieds are gimped. First arcanist did not have a good first showing. That is part alliance plot armour. Part…and yeah its tinfoil time…they don’t want the allieds upstaging the core races.

Not sure why the blood elves get gimped. You’d think they’d have one decent master of the arcane by now. they had a few years to study. Few thousand… Their strongest leads are an ineffective regent lord and paladin who don’t have much stage presense imo.

I may hate Turalyon’s guts (even on alliance chars) but I will grant old boy is written and voice acted well. We know he is there and his voice actor gives that “and you will know I am here” presence. He is still a putz to me…but a commanding putz all the same lol.

Thrall was a Mary Sue during the Cataclysm!
He even stole my deathwing slaughter!

Which is why I think they’re building Talanji up because she already mirrors Jaina so much.

-Dead father who had different principles than their daughters? Check.
-Strong female figureheads who are passionate of their people? Check.
-Magically capable? Check.
-Royalty among their people? Check.

While we haven’t seen the extent of her power yet, I did notice that Bwonsamdi had his eye on Talanji during the Rastakhan fight. He made a quote that was basically dismissive of Rastakhan’s demands and told him that if Rastakhan can’t handle his business with the power he’s given, his daughter will.

All in all, it seems like a lot of the story has been building Talanji up so we’ll have to see just how powerful she is or will become.

As far as Warrior types, the Alliance has their share of them.

-Varian (deceased but so is Garrosh)
-Greymane
-Muradin

I think if Thrall were to show up, it would dramatically shift the power into the Horde’s favor, in terms of magic. I do think he would side with Baine and Saurfang if he were to return so I doubt his return would threaten the Alliance much.

Speaking of Thrall, I do miss that guy. I remember in BC, I made my first Horde toon because until then, I had only played Alliance and made a Horde to play with friends. I had preconceptions about Orcs because prior to playing Horde, I thought they were the evil faction with Orcs being the savage, barbaric aspect of that faction.

However, I received a quest where Thrall wished to welcome me into his hold, before there was a warsong hold in the center. He greeted me warmly and wished me well on my journey. Not what I expected and it shattered my perspective on the Horde.

It’s a shame, because Lor’themar is actually a really cool character in the books and comics, and his few in game appearances.

I know people scoff at a Blood Elf Warchief, but I feel out of all our current leaders Lor’themar would easily be the best Warchief The Horde ever had.

because if we did, we’d just mow down the alliance and be done with it

also, nathanos has axes??? good god i try and ignore him so much that i never actually… @__@

heh remember when garrosh knocked anduin into that bell? like the longest windup ever and the kid just stood there. good stuff, good stuff

Bro he would be the best warchief. Not a lot of people understand during TBC when you create a level 1 Blood Elf, the Blood Elfs are on the verge of extinction. The Sunwell destroyed (again). Their entire population withering and going mad and the ones that are not are scared and go with kael’thas to escape that fate.
The undead and trolls pushing into eversong.

Lother’mar inherited that mess and made the blood elfs a major power. He is amazing.

I still want Baine though :stuck_out_tongue:

Tyrande and Malfurion are only over powered in lore, in game they are kind of a joke. Together, even with Tyrande even more powered up with the Night Warrior, they couldn’t handle Nathanos and a Valkyr.

Khadgar though is technically neutral.

It’s funny, a lot of Horde don’t want Thrall back, but he is easily the most powerful member of the Horde that there has ever been.

You’re absolutely right.

I’m Horde through and through, but I gotta admit this guy was beastmode. Easily my favorite Alliance leader of all time. He’s pretty much forgotten nowadays though which sucks, I feel like Sylvanas wasn’t half as brave to try and pull all her shtuff when Varian was around.

I read into her behavior then, while Varian was around, and now without him and think Sylvanas knew she had to watch herself and not blatantly do the stuff she does currently in BFA when Varian was around because I doubt he’d stand for it. At all.

With him gone, however, she doesn’t seem worried to do whatever she wants even with Greymane, Anduin, Malf, Tyrande etc around. To me that says Varian was a beast.

Don’t get me wrong, Thrall is still my boy, but I’ll respect Varian, he deserved it. Anduin? Lolno.

I know you’re trolling simply by how many times you misspelled Jaina.

Actually it’s quite the opposite. Talanji (a Zandalari) is basically the most powerful and prominent Horde character this expansion, and there are Highmountain and Mag’har all over the place (though as soldiers, Mayla and Geyah’rah seem to be pictures on the side of a milk carton).

On Alliance side, there’s a constant presence of Void Elves and Umbric specifically, Jaina (a Kul’Tiran) is a warhorse, and Dark Iron Mole Machines dot the landscape.

The Nightborne’s arcane prowess not making an appearance in the plot is frankly a missed opportunity. Likewise, Geyah’rah doing nothing (when she’s literally a blank slate and could have any level of power) is another missed opportunity.
