Why are Sunday posts so wild?

What is it about Sunday that causes all the trolls to come out? I’ve never understood how this started or why it continues

Is it just all the trolls day off?

Moderation is less on Sunday, apparently. On Monday, a troll thread can be removed in a few minutes, you will just see a 404, but they stay on Sunday for sometimes hours or all day.

So it is 2 things, I think:

  1. Less moderation means people think their troll posts will have a greater impact, so people may choose to post on Sunday
  2. Survivorship bias - we see a higher frequency of crazy posts on Sunday because crazy posts on Monday are taken down right away

When the cats away…
They know they can get away with the nonsense for a few hours.

It’s kind of like the Full moon and mania. Not even fully sure myself, but it’s been going on for years.

Higher visibility + Low moderation. When your motivation is to farm for reactions then that’s the ideal combination

People are bored and probably looking to kill time before bed or post for reactions.

I’m just killing time while my sleep meds kick in.

People want to have fun. Are any of them doing any harm? Relax.

Spreading blatant misinformation like some of them do is definitely harmful.

Combination of 2 factors really. More people play and have free time on the weekend plus less moderation due to the blues all being off.

All I know is it’s a good day for popcorn.

No it isn’t.

If it was Blizzard would’ve made it reportable.

Besides, do you know how crazy it would be if you could punish others for being uninformed?

Very silly.

It is reportable. It’s called trolling.

There’s a difference between being uninformed and intentionally spreading lies. If you’re uninformed, you shouldn’t be acting like you know what you’re talking about in the first place, but stupid people are always gonna stupid. The intentional trolls are the ones who post on lvl 10 classic accounts just looking to get a rise out of people.

your idea of fun sucks, bud.

This isn’t true anymore and why that political thread from yesterday didn’t stick around long. I mean, no longer than any thread made in the middle of the night. It was deleted shortly after 10am, which is usually when the pruning happens.

I had a question yesterday and it was immediately answered by one of the usual blues. I think Sunday being the wild wild west is over because it seems like they adjusted their hours.

I think it started out as many suspected above, but as you said, moderation seems to have picked up…which makes Sunday threads what they are, a meme everyone thinks they have to be in.

People make wilder posts on Sunday because the community thinks the moderation is more relaxed then.

Thr truth is you could get away with making those posts any day of the week, they just do it on Sunday because of the perception that the moderation is more relaxed then.

Sunday posts are the best for the simple fact that out of any day of the week, sunday posts are the most meds induced ones

I think more people go online on Sunday since its usually a rest day for many.

Because there’s a perception that there is no moderation on Sunday, so the trolls just go wild. In reality there IS, it’s just a lot lighter than during the week, so it takes longer to get bad stuff taken down.
