Why are some players profiles not available?

Just played with a player and went to look up his toon profile
and the WOW page sput back not available.

I suspect he is a blizzard employee when the page goes missing

I doubt it. They don’t really hide their characters. The Game Director’s is…

That’s fairly well known but sort of beside the OP’s point.

OP, you will often find there is no character available on the armory view but that’s often just a technical hitch. You can come back another time and it will be there. There is no reason an employee would hide a profile because we would have no idea any particular character was being run by an employee (unless they told us).

If you’re referring to the forums, you can hide your profile.

Fair enough. It also happens if a character has been offline a very long time. Maybe they just came back?

ten years ago it was easy peasy to find characters on the Armory (both the website and the mobile app)

all the squishes and realm connections over the years borked it

Which is honestly silly since you can just go directly to search them on the armory anyway.

I always thought that when people hide their profile was mostly to hide their post history, they are many other ways to see someone’s armory.

Crazy you would jump to blizzard employee when the reason most people would hide their accounts is because they are trolls.

Trolls don’t like their trolling being scrutinized.

It just takes away the View Profile button that links directly to their armory, you can still see the View Activity button.

Look at Hesling a few posts up, for example.

It happens when a player race or faction changes. Sometimes name changes cause it as well.
