Why are some 6 piece tier set bonuses such garbage?

Resto druid 6pc is also hot garbage. Tranquility is an awful spell and even buffing it by 100% and giving it no CD, it’s still worse than wild growth and there’s almost no instance where you want/need to use it.

for those who care i did some testing via the sims in regards to the set bonuses:

  • PHASE 4 BIS (t1 bonus+ IF) 1319 DPS, 3564 TPS, 387 DTPS

  • core forged t2 (t1 bonus + TF) 1520 DPS, 3866 TPS , 300 DTPS

  • Draconic t2 (t2 bonus + TF) 1633 DPS, 3699 TPS, 305 DTPS

  • Core forged with IF 1432 DPS, 3605 TPS, 329 DTPS

  • Draconic with IF 1532 DPS, 3436 TPS, 336 DTPS

  • FULL DPS SET(t1) with IF 1428 DPS, 3410 TPS, 463 DTPS

So math is out my guy, that tier bonus is trash you lose ~150 TPS on any draconic set even with the addition of a thunderfury. Infact Phase 4 BIS with ironfoe sims better than a full set of draconic with ironfoe. So after losing TPS consistently how will 1 counterattack help you every 30 seconds? lmao you are dumb

When you parry, you generate 0 threat

10% of 0 is 0 threat

When you parry with the 6pc T2 bonus, you might put out ~2k threat

2k threat at the start of a pull > 0 threat at the start of a pull

Long-term sustained threat is irrelevant. You can hold threat just fine without any set bonuses.

The parry retaliation from T2 reduces variance. It is the only gear in all of SoD, across any of the tank classes, that allows you to generate threat on a parry (which happens ~15% of the time - it’s not all that rare to have multiple parries early in a pull). This is extremely good.

6 piece for this isnt worth, losing 10% overall threat for something that any good tank can deal without. Also long term threat is relevant because the 6 piece is 10% long term threat…but for some reason you think 1 auto attack is worth that.

NOW WHAT6 PIECE SHOULD BE:
-on dodge or parry revenge is now usable instantly dealing 200% weapon dmg (5 sec cd just like revenge)

that way you can use it and it still requires the human to hit a button after. more skill and makes more sense. not to mention currently 1 retaliation is trash for every 30 seconds.

Oh really? What do you do when you first auto attack + shield slam both get parried at the start of a pull?

well considering the majority of the bosses in the game are tauntable i would do that… if not i would have HS qued, lol you think im going without HS qued plus shield slam.

Plus any boss thats not tauntable any person who isnt breadead has already been told by the raid leader to watch threat on transitions. this set bonus does nothing that a real human being cant already do/ figure out without literally losing stats from the next version of tier…

Oh, so your solution is to tell the DPS to do less damage because you would rather see higher numbers on your threat meter at the end of the fight. Cool.

I’m going to rock 6pc T2 and let people pump :man_shrugging:

less dmg? you think 1 GCD is going to kill them on a fight like ony where they are told its a threat fight. everything else is tauntable. 1 parry retaliation doesnt fix a bad tank my guy. thats just a bad tank hoping their gear set bonus will carry them lol

good tanks are saying this set bonus does nothing for us. give us something cool or interesting

**WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR TIER BONUS WHEN SHIELD SLAM IS DODGED AND NOT PARRIED LOL **

Molten blast also needs a rework. It has to scale with spellpower. In the early phases of SOD shaman was tanking with ap but now every tank piece has spell power (pure or in form Defense rating)

Thank God you can choose the t1 bonus in the t2 gear because most if not all are a downgrade, the shadow priest one is criminally bad.

**WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR TIER BONUS WHEN SHIELD SLAM IS DODGED AND NOT PARRIED LOL **

You never did answer this…

Paladin set bonuses for next phase are also kind of trash 95% of rets going to keep t1 6 set bonuses for sure

sounds like you’ve been a bad tank for 20 years. congratulations are in order. thoughts and prayers to your dps

Being guaranteed that you’re not going to be parried on the pull is worth it in my book. This is when the problems occur, once you’re hooked in any decent tank can maintain threat.

You can still whiff your first hit(s), but it’s going to reduce your variance by a good amount. Plus, small side bonus, less parry hasted boss hits.

Oh i bet your DPS just LOVE you. What with them likely being consistently threatcapped because you find doing anything to increase threat gen “irrelevant”.

This is precisely why so many tanks have a WA that calls out dodged/parried attacks in the first 5-10s of a fight. Its DEVASTATING when it happens and can get overeager DPS deleted.

You’re SOL. There is no gear in the game that can mitigate dodge chance.

Parry happens roughly 3x as often (~15% chance) as dodge though (~5% chance) so it’s definitely the better of the two to have countered by a set bonus.

The chance of a double dodge on pull is only ~0.25% compared to ~2.25% for a double parry. So roughly 1 out of every 400 pulls will start off with a double dodge.

The cooldown on the warrior set seems a bit high considering it’s always a chore keeping threat for the first 15-20 seconds of a fight while people are blowing CDs.

1 Parry isn’t making or breaking aggro for the most part, really the buff to Devastate will be more noticeable for generating threat overall.

I think they want people to mix and match sets in the BWL phase. Most sets have at least one very powerful bonus. This should be what the classic playerbase wants anyways shouldn’t it? Gear variety is fun and it’s closer to the classic style of tier bonuses anyways. It would be strange to me if every tier we simply equipped 6pc of the new set.

6 piece tier 2 bonus, more like a 2 piece bonus. Once again most bosses are tauntable so the argument of a parry off pull means nothing, also shield slam can be dodged (when i checked some of my logs 50% of shield slam misses were dodges). So 50% of the time i miss I can get a proc every 30 seconds that is the equivalent to 1 heroic strike, got it.

losing 150 TPS from t1 bonus is pretty big considering it affects every action you do. In a raid that has most dps increasing their tps why would we want ours to go down? The amount of people thinking 1 counterattack on pull makes or breaks you as a tank is astounding. As someone who has tanked and lead raids for 20 years I think i will be fine just taunting a boss on parry or dodge off the bat while the rest of you bank on the set bonus from making you terrible.

Il take my TPS increase over a small dps increase and loss of TPS.
