Blizz has gone out of their way to disable borrowed power systems for the mage tower and now they’re nerfing outlier trinkets. However, sockets are still usable and providing huge bonuses to those who go out of their way to farm them via old content/chromie time or dropping a bunch of gold in the AH. This basically trivializes some of the Mage Tower scenarios that are otherwise actually challenging.
Have to say that I’ve been pretty disappointed in the general roll out of the Mage Tower’s return. I really wish that they had disabled all sources of power (borrowed power, tier, legendaries, sockets, trinkets) and just provided templates for each spec, around which the challenges were tuned.
And then the vast majority of the playerbase would not be able to complete it.
With it as it is now, people struggling can still go and get upgrades from old raids and come back and try again. which provides value to older raids for people that might otherwise not care, and more value to professions. that people might otherwise not do.
However the mage tower rotating out is still a problem in my eyes. let people tackling it forever.
Haven’t played any RPGs with time-restricted challenge modes that randomly disable parts of player power. Also no other timewalking content has ever been difficult enough for players to fail at, despite their gear.
If this is actually a challenge mode, as has been presented by Blizz, then you should not be able to outgear/cheese it.
If it hurts you so much, you could have chosen NOT to switch. Noone forced you, but now that you looked in the back of the crossword puzzle book called mage tower, and got your silly tmogz, you want blue to rip out the page for others?
Yes, it’s still pretty powerful. It’s pretty much the next best thing to DK’s Fallen Crusader (if not better). I’m pretty sure DKs Fallen Crusader code was copy and pasted from Crusader…
It’s funny, I couldn’t sell the thing pre-nerf, can’t keep it stocked on the AH post nerf.
Why bother when you can slap dash together the current MT with a quick and dirty scaling pass and not much else? This cost them next to nothing to re-enable.
