Why are Shadowlands zones flying island? Solution

Instead of floating islands, each Shadowlands zone should have an infinite horizon.

Yes, there is a fixed playable game area, but on the borders of that area instead show the zones stretching out into the horizon forever. It could all be a painted background like the cityscape skybox on Argus - Mac’Aree, or it could be an image based on a procedurally generated landscape using game assets. It doesn’t matter. The point would be to add a sense of scale that each zone in the Shadowlands goes on forever… You just can’t access it because there’s a force field in the way.

They’re islands because they’re separate afterlives, the myriad realms of the dead. It’s not like walking down the street to the chemist’s.

Shadowlands zones are floating islands because, as with Argus, it makes it easy to justify travel restrictions.
