Why are shadow priest legendaries so trash?

All of the spec specific legendaries for shadow are garbage and are useless in pvp

What was blizzard thinking!??

I agree that having some nice legendary options is exciting, but I do prefer having a strong spec that doesn’t NEED a leggo in order to function (like HPriest with FC in dungeons).

We might get a juicy leggo in some future patches though hopefully

I think the Shadow redesign in the middle of Shadowlands development threw off a lot of the expansion’s main features. The covenant abilities and legendaries all seem incredibly “meh” for the spec, with no cool synergies.

I came here to post exactly this, but you beat me to it Aleksi.

All three specs got some of the worst legendaries possible, except maybe for Twins of the Sun Priestess. The other legendaries offer absolutely nothing interesting or game-changing for us to craft.

I wish they’d make Crystalline reflection a class-wide legendary, and change Painbreaker Psalm, Shadowflame Prism & Kiss of Death to offer better buffs. I’d also love to see discipline get a legendary that makes atonement a passive thing that you no longer have to apply. But that’ll probably never happen.

Priests really did get the short end of the stick when you compare what they got to what other classes got as legendaries.

You can use legendaries regardless of spec already (e.g. Crystalline Reflection as Shadow).

Doesn’t work for me.

…? It does work, 100%. I have personally tested Crystalline Reflection as off-specs.

It’s something that works regardless of class, and is what’s enabling people to, for example, use tank or healer legendaries as DPS in PvP.

Not that I’d recommend using Crystalline Reflection for anything but disc, since nothing else has Rapture, which is the only thing making the legendary decent.

Again, it didn’t work for me in Shadow. All I got was the heal but not the reflection.

I wouldn’t be mentioning it if it had worked properly lol. But I’m glad it’s working for you.

Did you check logs to make sure that the reflection didn’t work?

If you did -

  1. Could be a bug or you missed it.
  2. You just didn’t notice because shield lasts for practically nothing as shadow.

Also, just because it doesn’t, for whatever strange reason, work for you doesn’t mean the functionality isnt there. So, in essence, legendaries are ALL class-wide, whether it works for you or not.

Actually, now that this is brought up, I’m considering opening a ticket because it definitely didn’t reflect on anything.

Still wanna know if you’ve checked logs cuz it’s likely you’re just not noticing it.

I have, hence why I assumed it was a spec specific thing.

I actually stepped into torghast with it and noticed it there that it wasn’t reflecting.

Then yea, report it as a bug and hopefully Blizz takes notice.

Great question. Hopefully we get some better legendaries in 9.1

Wouldn’t really call it much of a redesign. Overall, I know people were excited for the changes, but shadow still largely suffers from the same problems it had in BFA. Our talents are still really messed up and we do zero AOE damage without them. We do have some choices but in general a lot of it should just be baseline stuff.

Also why does surrender to madness have to kill me? The upside to using it isn’t that valuable. It feels forced to make it so you don’t always choose it. But the trade off is really bad. And unless you study before hand there are some things you shouldn’t use it on or you will die. Which doesn’t feel intuitive at all.

I agree. Another issue Shadow (and priest in general) suffers from is a general lack of utility, which the redesign did not address. This affects Disc less so, but for Shadow/Holy it’s readily apparent. Glaringly so in higher difficulty content.

Purely because we were redesigned, and if they gave us good legendaries too ppl would be crying even harder about us than they were at the start of the expac.

Notice now how it’s died down as other specs have started scaling while ours is very limited now.

I have nothing to say constructive except after seeing your character my priest HAS to get that t-mog set.

Why thank you! I think this is probably one of my favorite cloth sets in the entire game. Maybe one of my favorite set designs just in general. Plus it looks sweet with the Venthyr tombstone and the Balance of Power tint for Holy.

I’m a huge Warhammer fan so…yeah, imma need that set.
