Why are racist players not getting banned after being reported?

He did a racist rant about Spanish players.

For my part, I do what anyone, even blizzard should do, ignore the OP.

But to be pedantic, African is not a race, it is a place of origin (birth). Because being African does not mean you are of a given ethnic group, of a given skin color, or of any appearances specifically.

I did lived in Africa, and I was travelling once to a nice place in Africa in which natives generations, probably all of them, from Africa, which are very light skinned and dark green eyed.

So saying “African” meaning race makes YOU the racist.

Thanks. Now I have that song stuck in my head.

Might as well pull up the song on YouTube.

Here’s the thing. Unless it’s for harassment, Blizz doesn’t care if one person reports someone else in the game for chat. It takes multiple people reporting someone in a short amount of time to initiate a 7-day squelch, and then Blizz will review the chat to see if more action is warranted.

TLDR: If you are the only one that was offended and reported them nothing is going to happen. At worst they got an automated notification letting them know someone reported them.

This is what I am hoping as the:

  • The name with CHIMP in it is a fact.
  • The Africa comment is in the logs.
  • The racist Spanish rant is in the logs.
  • Me reporting him is a fact.

Just curious, I will wait a week and see if Blizz does anything. raider . io can track M+ activity.

Again. If you were the only one that reported them, Blizz isn’t going to do anything. You should expect that to be the outcome.

they aren’t going to ban someone for any of that - they will just make it so he can’t talk in channels and you wouldn’t be able to tell if he can’t.

If you’re truly curious, edit your OP and move this thread to CS. You’re more likely to get an answer there than on the GD.

The Problem is, what you think is crossing the line as racist, and what the other people in the group think crossing the line is and what Blizzard thinks crossing the line is, are probably all different. If it was actually racist, I hope he gets a week vacation, if you were just being overly sensitive, nothing is gonna happen.

Hey OP I agree with you, I have witnessed the situation you described in WoW and other games as well so it isnt hard for me to believe it. I am actually quite surprised by the amount of people gaslighting you in this thread.

As for why it takes awhile for reports to be addressed, my guess is the immense number of reports.

I do think what you describe is not a fun encounter in a game where you are playing to have fun and/or be competitive while playing with friends or strangers online and would appreciate the removal of players getting a kick out of stirring up stuff in game.

Sounds like you need to lighten up OP. Good grief.

The system is automated so it takes more than one report to ban someone.

I agree with what you are saying. But Blizzard set the bar very high with its ‘woke’ purge a few years back… you know art with fruit in it.

They spent a lot of time and money cleaning up quests text, graphics, mounts, pets, voices, firing, hiring, etc., etc. to become more woke and inclusive.

Was it just for show then?

Why do you think of a race of people when you see the word chimp, weirdo?

Can’t say if it was for show or not, but think about it like this… If a player is making a racist comment in the game or a Blizz employee is sexually harassing another employee, which one do you think is going to make the news and which one do you think they would put more resources in getting fixed…

Sexual harrassment of course, it’s more interesting than someone butthurt in a video game.

Is corporate wokeness ever for anything more than show?
