The main reason why is that all of the dps specs are pretty overtuned atm, and it feels garbage to heal through it all. I qd 5 bgs back to back on my ally and horde rogue and got no healer teams.
I plan on messing around a bit on my disc priest and maybe some holy to test the waters, but I don’t want my salad tossed lmao.
Maybe if BG rewards weren’t a complete dumpster fire and there was some kind of MMR system, you would see more people queue(including healers). Get rid of factions while we are at it (faster queues and less complaining about X faction winning more). The sad fact is that Blizz doesn’t care about BGs or RBGs.
RBGs being overhauled into something similar to Ranked LoL matches would probably be on the same level as when mythic keys were introduced. Instead PvP is completely ignored.
That took long time to type, I’m sure. I feel like you’ve spent more time thinking about this and getting angry about it than it would have taken to learn how to be a decent healer yourself. That’s pretty weird.
You’re a monk. You have a heal spec. As the old WoW maxim goes: Heal or shut up please. Thank you.
Yeah I think they should attempt to force healer balance in bgs. If matchmaking Cant get enough healers for both teams it should just throw an entire game full of dps in to a game together and make the healers wait for the next bg(like arena skirmishes!). There should also never be a game where I que as BOTH dps and heals, join the game as dps, and theres no healers. Unfortunately, most of the time thats exactly what happens. The game should be smart enough to either swap me to heals, or make sure theres no heals on the other team. I’m really sick of queing into a team with no healers as shadow or enhancement vs 2 enemy healers.
All they need to do really is to allow people to change specs while in BG waiting area. This used to be the case back in the day (I think MOP?) where you could swap specs to heals/tank/dps freely in the BG start area before the match started.
I used to do this all the time. If I saw a match where the enemy team had more healers than us, I would swap to Resto from Enhance and heal my team instead. If I saw we had too many healers, I would swap to DPS. This would alleviate So many problems and is such an easy fix, without affecting Que times at all.
So many BGs launching with no healers on one side, just got out of a game with 4 healers on the other team and 0 on ours. Game shouldn’t even launch in those conditions…
I have seen this more since launch than ever before in recent memory.
Games starting short is another one that irks me, 8v10 does not work out so well for that first (important) Team fight while we wait for backfills.
Surely the population is healthy enough to prevent these from happening.
Either it’s a bug, or set up to create a high probability stomp.
Forum bug keeps removing/edit my post quote block. ^
If one side has significantly more healers than the other then there’s not much the algorithm can do but as an individual you can support your healers or even make one yourself thereby guaranteeing you have at least 1 healer on your team.
The system divides the population into horde and alliance first, if horde has 1 healer and the alliance 10 then it does its best to spread them out but it has limited options. There are probably ways to improve it but there would be a price in wait times. EDIT: And maybe lag.
BG queue times are like 2 minutes as Alliance atm, if they have to bump that up a few minutes more just to get a game that isn’t a waste of 15-20 minutes of time due to multiple healers on one team vs. none, then it’s more than worth it
What if this system is actually of paleolithic era software? When was it (if even) has it been updated since the dino era?
Imagine how much faster and efficient it could actual work with an update.
I think the issue is that then healer queues would be dependent on the other faction listing a similar number. Healer queues can already be longer than dps, at least anecdotally in my experience.
Maybe a big enough population normalizes healer numbers and the limit is distance when forming groups and lag, there are a lot of possibilities where efficiencies could probably be improved it’s more a question of cost/benefit to them and we are PvP so we can’t expect a lot of resources. A simpler solution might be to offer something akin to mercenary mode for times of imbalance with some reward for choosing the other faction. Probably would be abused but I still like to think people who do that are a small minority of players and that they just stand out more when you encounter them.
I healed a few times in BGs on a different toon a few XPacs ago. Never doing that again.
Watching 3 dudes chase down 1 low HP guy away from the flag while I have 3 dudes on me as I’m the only one defending it and get killed only to see people yelling at me in chat because I didn’t heal them.
Yeah, no. Learn to play, peel, not fight on roads, etc and when your only healer is getting beat on by multiple baddies it’s probably not a good idea to be smooth brain with other smooth brains just because you want to get the killing blow.
No thanks. I try to peel in a team game like I should but apparently 99% of the pop thinks team games are solo experiences and in-group competition because they have smol peens.
In WoD, I think it was, alliance had a big advantage over horde due to the perceived power level of EMFH causing a migration. Alliance sought to punish healers, which is probably why there were so few horde ones back then. There’s healing with another healer then there’s solo healing 10 and 15 man instances, constantly engaged in fire fights when the other team has better geared players.
People heal because they make a difference, very few people say more than “why aren’t you healing me?” when you respond “because I’m in the GY since no one peeled” but it does happen. Doesn’t really matter, what makes healing painful is how everyone is focused on killing you. They’ll bypass objectives, flag carriers, even their dying mothers to put an end to you.
