They are rude because even has far as we have gotten with technology, the ability to punch someone in the face through our monitors is still, sadly, decades away.

Well depends how you see it. More people are rude nowadays but they aren’t as rude before. Early days of the internet you were in for a trip.
I would say generally there’s more division and conflict between people than before when people can’t even agree on what’s true or not.

Blame queable content. Before queable content your reputation on your realm meant something, now you can que be toxic and never see the same ppl again.

Ignore the rude ones and keep the good ones. After a while, the rude ones will be a drop in the bucket compared to the good ones.

With so many people playing, the consequences of being trashy are few because you won’t often see those people again.

Almost like how the more you care about it, the more extreme the emotions you feel about it are.
Hard to say other then banal platitudes. Whats rude to some is not rude to others.
More context is needed with this.

It’s not just WoW, frankly, life has gotten so darn stressful and we have no real outlets nor control over it. Some people vent it out on others. Some turn to bully others to feel like they have some control.
I’m not saying it’s good behaviour, but it explains some of it. The fact we’re all anonymous doesn’t help.
If it’s downright nasty;
- report.
- ignore.
- carry on.
Don’t let them get to you hun.

i just breathe thru it. people insulting each other over the most frivilous things, suggests boredom. looking for stimulating discussion, verbal boxing matches, healthy debates can be treacherous online, as your opponent can instantly stuff in ear plugs, ignore you and address the audience instead, even attempt to have you banned from the debate arena.

Welcome to the Internets, first off. That’s something WoW will never change, because the Internet itself is far greater than the game and its forums.
Even when it comes to bans, the Internet laughs. Particularly the forces of Anonymous are the Laughing Men. Bans mean nothing. They are to be enjoyed, actually. And with DDoI attacks that still persist to this very day, do understand that the evil you speak of is the one of the lesser evils there is to know.
The Internet has its own rules, and its own laws, that SUPERSEDE that which is here. That means any one of us reserve the right to be rude if we wish to be. Even then, if it doesn’t deprive you of access to the forums, I wouldn’t worry about it.
This is just normal Internet manners. It’s not that it’s right to be rude or that we have to be rude, but rudeness is its own purpose.
