Why are people so mad with Shadowlands story?

What do you mean? This sentence makes perfect sense.

Ve’nari is the only member of a race called the Ve’nari. She’s the one and only and is very unique,

It’s all about the perspective, Ve’nari thinks she’s the only Ve’nari of the Ve’nari.

Being a villain generally isn’t a power fantasy.

One of those things where it’s dependent on reasoning.
A player being made a villain wouldn’t be a power fantasy.
A player choosing to be one definitely would; like the biggest reason City of Villains existed.

Its still something the Horde players got to experience, enjoyment may vary but just because they didn’t doesn’t mean it doesn’t count. You got Azighan excited at the prospect of blowing up yet another something that Alliance owns.
How is he no different than the Ereviens or Sylvanas fans who enjoyed Teldrassil in practice?
Its still a power fantasy situation. They might have been beat up on the purple tree huggers of the WoW franchise but they still got it.

It does.

Fantasy requires enjoyment.

This was a Nightmare development.

And again the Ereviens of the world are not the majority.

Or the Azighans of the world. Each group cares about one thing or another and each is a minority in their opinion but it turns out the main unifying factor for them all is to dunk on the Alliance.

And then we have the other groups coming out on the these forums “But we don’t hate the Dwarves! we are the victim too!” Rinse and repeat.

So that is why the Jailer wants to get his hands on our broker waifu

that tikilord Ragnaros is… Actually kinda good. in a goofy way.

Not in that its “Interesting” or “good character” but its like… Idk Funny? Humorous AU? sort of? Idk.

Would make a good heroes of the storm skin.

Maldraxxus is the source of undeath because they developed the techniques for building flesh constructs there; because they exist on the rotting corpse of some great death entity. The soul stuff doesn’t seem to be a factor in their style.

That said, it kind of craps on the nerubians.

Oh thank god, im not the only one.

What lore doesnt shadowlands or bfa crap on? Aside from maybe tol’vir lore.

Maybe.

I’m similar to you in that I took a break from SL right around Dec 2020 after leveling this toon to max, then deciding that no, I wasn’t quite up for the endless Torghast grind, Covenant grind, Soul Ash grind, and gear grind.

I personally liked all the Covenant stories. I thought they were well voice-acted, interesting and did a fairly good job of giving you a rough overview of what each one was about should you choose to join them later. Ysera coming back at the end of the Night Fae one was particularly awesome (small note if any blue is reading this, anytime you play a rendition of Nightsong during a cinematic I’m probably going to love it =P)

The main problem is that everything ends up circling back to Sylvanas. Having the main arc of the Shadowlands story revolve around her is a problem because 1) Too often we’re left in confusion as to her actual motivations 2) Lack of information leads us to not care when we don’t understand the direction the story is trying to move in. The last cinematic didn’t really do anything to alleviate this; heck it even ends with her saying “Must not let him reach the… [cuts off]” Uhmmmm,…kk? o.O lol

During BfA this was a problem as well, but back then I put up with the grind and found ways to enjoy the gameplay while waiting for some kind of satisfying conclusion to the story. I’d be more than willing to do it again if I knew there was some kind of resolution waiting for me, but from what I’ve seen in the cinematics and trailers for 9.1 I might have to keep waiting.

EDIT: Or maybe this is a sign I should just level an alt? XD

I keep enjoying the game in exactly this way. I mostly do bgs, occasionally taking a break to chain tank dungeons. Working on my 5th warrior right now.
