Not realistic. If you think making loot harder to get for players who pug content is going to turn them into permafixed group members, you are dabbling in wishful thinking. More likely it will result in less participation, less to do, and fewer players.
I understand that there are people who feel as you do. If you think politely requesting gear that you don’t need is “pathetic”, do you also think generosity is a moral failing?
Mainly due to spam addons.

It’s annoying, when someone wins something I want, I don’t bother him/her, I move on. The other day I got my taste of how bad it’s gotten, been playing long enough but this is the first time where I had 4 different people asking me at once if I wanted the item I won, actually not asking, begging, linking how bad their gear was and how they needed it more, and then they all started rolling in raid and finally someone said “Why are you guys rolling on something the dude didn’t even give up?” and then the “He has x item he doesn’t need it” You know how many times ive passed on loot where I could have easily rolled need? Need is need people.
No idea. More times than not I don’t even notice whispers since they show up in a different tab now.
The extra coin system at least gave us hope that we could get something.
I’m not saying force them to. But all problems you guys have with loot is fixed with that, and every solutions so far given is unfeasible.
I feel like this is a fair response today, because of the rolling system. Obviously they weren’t rolling just for fun so asking is pointless now.
But people had this same mindset even when it was personal loot and I’ll never understand that. It didn’t hurt to politely ask. I’m sure some percentage of people sending the whispers today are just in the habit of it from when personal loot was the standard.

I dont hate getting whispered saying “hey do u need?” but what has happened often enough for me is people using addons to IMMEDIATELY whisper me or whispering me multiple times in quick succession. That is incredibly annoying and I’m not giving you the gear even if I don’t need it at that point.

I literally got more whispers when it was personal loot tho, since you would get loot regardless of whether you needed it. At least now, if you win something, it’s because you rolled for it, strongly suggesting that you do, in fact, want that item.
I don’t think I have gotten a single whisper in LFR since group loot started. I got 5 every time when it was personal loot.
Now imagine if that was available for roll and that person that afk’d the whole fight won the roll.
Even better solution, just do normal runs if you want to be a LFR Hero. It’s probably easier anyway and you can make a smaller group how you want.
