1 - That tree is likely still alive. Nordrassil was burned once too when Archimonde Exploded. It only took a few years for it to heal completely.
A few years mean a few seconds in world-tree years.
2 - Even if the Tree dies, the Night Elves made it REALLY fast. They made it in less than 4 years since it was planted after WC3 and it was fully grown in Vanilla.
3 - It wasn't even a good tree. It was planted by a guy who was secretly corrupted by the Nightmare and a future Druid of the Flame.
The tree did not receive the proper Blessings from Nozdormu (because he thought planting that tree was a Jerk Move) and fell prey to the Emerald Nightmare. It had Satyrs and drove some Furbolg dudes mad and stuff.
So just wait for it to Heal or make a new tree. See if you can bribe Nozdormu or Murozond to bless this one and give you your Immortality back or something.

it seems like worshiping trees never ends well for the night elves, they all seem to blow up or get corrupted.

Probably because they keep planting them in the ground, where Old Gods can get to them.11/08/2017 01:20 PMPosted by Greeneggit seems like worshiping trees never ends well for the night elves, they all seem to blow up or get corrupted.
Seriously, get some mages to craft a levitating upside-down pot and hang the tree from the sky. Fixed forever.

For your information the Forsaken don't even need to breathe and when they do they do (because old habits die hard) they use their noses.
We'll just flatten Thunderbluff. Tauren can go find a new mesa to settle on.
Murdering a large population of Kaldorei isn't exactly something I'm keen on. But the tree itself, I could care less about. I only care about possibly losing Kalimdor at 110 as a place for my guilds to RP with lower levels. Not keen on the RPers or those that like helping lower levels quest or run RP quests getting screwed if there's no way to swap the phasing. We need more info.
Yeah Blizz doesn't seem to realize that trying to burn such a large living (thus full of water) tree surrounded by water (thus everything is wet) wouldn't work very well.
You can say the horde has magic, but so does the alliance. It would probably be very hard to get enough mages to set the tree alight with a whole bunch of druids, shamans, and frost mages working together to create a hurricane in an attempt to blow them away.
Will have to see what happens in the book I guess.

I've fallen off that dumb tree before so I say good riddance.
I'm just hoping this means we're closer to getting the wrath of Basic Campfire for Warchief. I'm sure he's behind this.

Or they could live on the flat ground and spare their own people the Elevator falls.
Sunwalker Dezco himself admitted falling down from the elevator more than once.
"I've been punched, stabbed, thrown off of a cliff, hit in the face by someone's mace, hit in the face by my own mace, and fell off the elevator at Thunder Bluff on more than one occasion."

I'm more bothered by the idea of losing Ashenvale than Teldrassil. Spent a long time growing up in those redwood-esque zones. Lot of sentimental value being taken away. If the lore is good it could be a hugely entertaining opportunity. If it's bad, I lost my house and my favorite forest in the game because of stupid orcs.

Your asking why people are mourning a tree in a video game but forgot people mourned a gorilla for months in real life...

I dislike the tree intensely for 1 reason.
Look at the concept art for it.
Look at it in-game.
Now you hate it too.

Teldrassil is what made me fall in love with WoW eleven years ago. That music, that atmosphere, that magic. Oh it cuts me so deeply thinking about what will happen...

Darnassus has the best AH/Mailbox set up on alliance side.
I will be really sad to see it go.

This. Because in all likelihood, Darnassus is never coming back. Or, the Night Elves will be squatting in its burned out hulk for the next several expansions. Meanwhile, we hear the Alliance will pull back all the way to Arathi Highlands because the Undercity is not defensible. When in actuality, there's significant bottlenecks that make Lordaeron eminently defensible against Blood Elf incursions from the north (not the least of which you have the Argent Crusade situated there and the Wildhammers as well).
It's the same old routine in the faction storyline from Blizzard. The Alliance loses something significant while the Horde remains essentially intact — Southshore, Andorhal, Menethil Harbor, Loch Modan, Theramore, and so on. On top of that, the Alliance loses significant territory in Kalimdor if the information correct — Ashenvale, Feralas, etc. Where will the Night Elves go?
I generally support the notion of faction conflict but I think Blizzard is taking it too far this time in the story. Too much of significance is being given up in what appears to be Cataclysm 2.0.

They need to move the story line forward. We're not all going to like it. It will sink or float. But they need to do it. Right now we have to wait and see what will pan out.
I know... shadowmeld in Ashenvale feels like it was meant for that zone ... nothing like it. They already let the orcs burn half the place down. The other half Deathwing tore into.
I hope Nelfs get one hell of a come-uppance in this expac.
I vote Tree of Eternity. We're still, I think, the largest army in Azeroth. Maybe not after apparently losing this battle. We'll have to see. But a re-emerging ancient like the Tree of Eternity would bring the Nelfs back to their full strength.

Blizzard could storyline that into some very nice vengeance after torturing us with loss for six months.

Yay! Let's be just as bad as the jerks that burned down Teldrassil >.<
Seriously the Tauren have suffered enough themselves at the hand of the alliance without some Panda getting the idea of targeting them further.
Don't make me call Triplex on you.
