Honestly, I really can’t fathom why everyone wants this to be added to the game.
Instead of 5 weeks to get your optimal leggo, now it’ll take a whopping 10 weeks.
If you like to multi-role on one character, that means it’ll take a minimum of 20 weeks to get 2 legendaries for each of those two specs.
Not to mention the chances of a “BiS” setup between M+ and Raid might entail different setups.
Or the fact that any re-balancing efforts might change your best setup, quite possibly making you reforge multiple legendaries all over again.
And what happens when they add in tier sets?
- What if the optimal setup involves using a tier slot occupied by a legendary you currently own? Guess it’s back to 5 weeks of grinding soul ash+cinders for you!
- Tier set bonuses alone might change up your BiS legendary option. For example, maybe for Elemental Shaman the tier set will focus on Flame Shock. So if you’ve been using the Earthquake legendary, now you have to re-roll not one, but possibly two legendaries.
This doesn’t even begin to cover the topic that there are massive disparities across specs/classes, some where existing legendaries could interact for some insane gains and benefits and some where that synergy is nonexistant.
TL;DR: Be careful what you wish for.

It kinda sucks if you play a class/spec that doesn’t get a big power spike from two legendaries.
It currently takes 5 weeks to get enough soul ash for 1 max rank leggo. Datamines for the soul cinder requirements shows another 5 weeks to get them to 9.1 max rank.
It’ll be a balancing nightmare. These aren’t the Legiondaries of old.
It’s not “another 5 weeks”. It’s the same 5 weeks. You earn soul ash and soul cinders at the same time.
So for two legendaries it will take 10 weeks in total. I’m not sure what you’re missing.

You said another 5 weeks. It’s just 5 weeks. 5 weeks and then I guess x2 I guess.
It’s not as though you can’t earn them now.
And you don’t actually need max rank. The difference between rank 5 and rank 6 is like… 50 dps. Something like that. Not really a deal breaker at all. I’ll take double legendary at the loss of 50 DPS for off-spec any day.

Did you intentionally ignore the original post, where I indicate the soul ash and cinders are gained simultaneously?
When 9.1 drops yes, it will take another 5 weeks for people who have current max rank leggos.
People be whining about Choreghast and time-gating but also begging for two legendaries just boggle my mind.
And I also go over a multitude of other reasons why having to worry about two leggos (multi-role/spec, tier, future rebalancing) are extra headaches brought on by such a system.

I am kind of ignoring your “argument” to be honest because it’s a false problem. We won’t get double legendary until 9.2, and if Blizzard wants to make it faster to unlock, they can do that. Your whine is fake. It isn’t valid. This is not a reason to be upset right now.

The reason is simple, we had two legendries in Legion. Especially now, that we can target specific legendries rather than having them be a completely random drop, it would be nice to have that level of customization.
That being said, unless they make upgrading legendries much quicker, two legendries would be killer for players who are enjoying multiple specializations.
Then I will ignore your post and arguments, as well. Have a nice day!
And we had one (cloak) in Battle for Azeroth…

True. But SL’s legendary system is far more similar to Legion’s than BFA’s.

It might be because game is stale and people want the big power creep potential of two legendary items?
Just because it takes longer to get 2 doesnt mean the idea should be thrown out. By that logic going anywhere but fast food is way too long just to get food.

I do think it’s odd that so many people want the dual legendaries considering the process already, while also disliking borrowed power. Yes, I know these aren’t necessarily exactly the same people, but if people hate the pressures of being told to play x spec right now, imagine being told to have two specific legendaries on top of that.

To that I repeat, be careful what you wish for.
The idea has merit but unless they revamp the entire process of crafting and ranking up leggos, as it currently stands, it sounds like a complete and utter $hitshow waiting to happen.
Because legion also let them have 2 legendaries which was rather nice.

If they were to allow 2 then people would start complaining about the time investment so they’d want the time cut in half. I can see it now.
That’s what I’m saying! And heaven forbid you want to DPS and Heal or Tank on one character.
Considering this is WoW of late I could see it happening without increasing the rate at which materials are earned.
