Why are paid services so pricey?

Race change $25? Doesnt make sense.

I think it would be fair at this point to include one free service with the subscription or purchase of expansion. First name change should definitely be free regardless

How else is Blizzard gonna make money? They are a business you know, not a charity.

Cause people pay for them.

Correctly said, as long as they have players willing to shill out why change the price?

Buying the expansion, paying a monthly fee, buying wow tokens, cosmetics / mounts / pets from the store come to mind.

According to Blizz, they are expensive because they don’t want you to use them. They would prefer for you to level a new character for free

Something, something, not clogging up the pipeline, something, something 10+ years ago? :man_shrugging:

Correct.

The good news is, this works both ways. Remember how DF kept going on sale? It wasn’t because they needed to clear out a bunch of inventory space in some warehouse somewhere…

Why? Probably because they’re entirely optional

thats how subs stay 15 bucks

The choices you make for your character should mean something in an RPG.
Not to be so carelessly changed.

I think this is the reason. They’re priced at a point where people don’t use them too often.

Bingo! We have a winner.

It makes perfect sense, it’s optional and unless you really want it, pay for it.

Pretty much, sub would be 23 bucks if following inflation trend.

People will pay it. It keeps sub prices down for people who don’t want these extras.

Does this mean that no one was paying for the body type swap?

Like the body type swap right?

Originally they were a manual operation in the database. This has probably changed though over the years. Anyways, a person had to go in and change settings that weren’t necessarily meant to be changed. There was also some talk about them not really wanting to do the services in the first place because you can just re-level a character.

I mean, what else is the same price today as it was in 2004?
