Why are other MMO's becoming an issue?

Which mmo ffxiv? Because ffxiv is a japanese game not a chinese game.

I mean SE is good friends with Tencent if that counts.

Sounds like the OP assumed SquareEnix was a gaming company from China when reality is it’s from Japan like most known game companies since the Nintendo era. Whilst I like WoW, I also enjoy FFXIV and the fact it surpassed WoW is something I could potentially see as a good thing. Existing competition often encourages innovation and if done right can reignite a fire under Blizzard’s rear end.

That and maybe getting leadership that’s actually played video games and want to implement fun that can satiate all demographics rather than someone lacking a childhood whod inject the needless caste systems of the real world. [I’m looking at you Bobby Kotick,ya schmuck]

If you are going to talk smack about something you should at least know what you are talking about.

Sounds like the intern who made this post wondering why people are leaving for another game does not know anything about said game.

Probably because they turned WoW into a competitive esports focused game. It’s hard to even think of it as as an MMORPG now.

*2010

Its been slowly losing numbers since 2010, so 11 years. Granted im sure every expansion spike numbers significantly.

Because people have gotten bored of them copy and pasting (much) worse versions of Legion the last 2 expansions. And at this point it doesn’t look like things will improve so they are gravitating toward other games. They want something new and interesting. WoW isn’t providing that.

Its the time gating and the unsatisfying game cycles of progression they keep adding removing then adding again.

Oh no Vhx, it’s different this time, I’ve never seen it like this before

Blizzard used to be the MMORPG to beat.

Since the change of the watch, that’s been easily done.

What does that tell you?

There was a level of magic, and timing with wow when it was new. It had access to an already established online gaming community, which for the time no other developer had that really. Also that had a HUGE, and i mean massive warcraft RTS community that was open to more warcraft stuff. Top it off the social interactions for the first 5 years was amazingly good, which is what drew people in at a crazy rate. You never saw leeroy vids come out of EQ for example.

It was bound to be temporary, what blizzard had, and they kept it going a while.

Different people, different social norms, and differnt lives everyone has now vs then. That same magic will take a new formula…and blizzard is trying that, but failing.

Im all for a return to the old ways, but im not sure blizzard is, or could, do that again, and im not sure anyone other than grizzled mmo vets would appreciate it for what it is.

I will say retail made me appreciate the old game in ways i never knew i could. I actually appreciate standing in a field of mobs farming for xp like its 2005 now, then i hated it.

Tfw you think Square Enix is a Chinese company lmao :joy:

Gonna get a forum vacation for this.

Asians aren’t racist to anyone, except other Asians. Call a Japanese or Chinese person Korean. Watch what happens.

There’s a -lot- of hostility between Asian nations.

Square being Japanese and called Chinese? That’s a -major- insult.

I don’t know how many Chinese Webnovels people have read, but hoooo boy. Almost all the literature taking place modern day is just insulting South Korea and Japan.

They don’t care.

They’ve thrown their eggs in other baskets and left this at the mercy of skeleton crews and Ions mad science.

Well, to be fair, the Japanese kind of have a little bit of a history with multiple invasions of their neighbors over hundreds of years with the last one being World War 2.

we need to critisize blizz bc they never listen to player feedback

genuinely things like the rip cord, and now with a soul ash refund, these things would make the game waaaaay better to play but blizz just doesnt do it

You are an idiot. Asians can be extremely racist, just like any other race can be racist. Racism from Asians living in Asia against whites, against arabs, and especially against blacks definitely exists.

Seen those laundry detergent commercials from China of black men being washed “cleaner” and then turned into a white-looking Chinese?

People were probably nay-saying over World of Warcraft on the Everquest forums leading up to WoW’s release in 2004. Look where Everquest is, now. Still active but a shadow of its former self.

WoW could potentially be facing the same situation, but Blizzard is too proud to admit that they have a problem, and their fanbase is all too happy to validate their pride.
