You know why child labour was so popular at the start of the industrial revolution? Small kids could easily get into the machinery to clean and maintain it where larger adults couldn’t.
Sometimes smaller is better.

The only thing that really bugs me about mechagnomes is that the setup at the hips makes no sense. It seems like having the attachment point at the upper thigh and maintaining the organic hips would make the most sense if you’re keeping the pelvis at all.
