Why are Loa so weak?

Like, from what I understand. Loa are suppose to be almost god-like beings, with near immeasurable power, to the point their worshiped as gods in troll culture.

But it seems almost every loa get murdered and their power stolen. Be a ragtag group of evil trolls.

These Loa don’t seem that strong at all, sure they put on a good front, but apparently they just die meekly all over the place, and there’s nothing they can do to stop their own demises.

Heck, even the 'King of Kings" loa went down like a sack of poatatoes, like… he didn’t even seem to try that hard.

Then we turn around and kill the person that stole the Loa’s power, who should theoretically, be stupidly powerful now.

So whats the point of these Loa exactly? They don’t really seem like very good gods, why do trolls worship them if a few dumb insurgents can render them helpless and murder them and steal their powers.

The Zandalari tribe isn’t even the first time this has happened. :\

Loa is just a generic term for things Zandalari worship. They arent necessarily super powerful. Even wisps are considered loa by some trolls.

I mean if you think back to even the Zul’Aman days, most of those guys absorbed gods’ power to become how powerful they are. Seems to me that the loa and gods in general don’t seemed to be too powerful. Hell, even Hakkar herself got trapped by a voodoo shuffling Jindo.
Edit: Yes I know they’re different tribes, was just pointing out among other types of trolls.

Shadra is a killable quest NPC in the Hinterlands. So yeah, loa don’t seem all that powerful, at least most of them anyway.

They’re animal gods (well, except for Bwonsamdi and potentially the friendly one in Zul’drak that isn’t Har’koa). They’re powerful but they’re not invincible. Also, don’t forget that they sacrifice their power in order to give their followers power. Not only are they not fighting their betrayers at full power, their betrayers are using their own power against them.

Hey, don’t knock the cute little glowballs that took out Archimonde

I still remember leveling up for the first time In BFA watching the dinosaur LOA run into AD and instantly gets trapped.
All that build up for a powerful LOA just to get wrecked

They don’t seem to be uniform in their strength so I don’t think you can really generalise them all

Look at Rezan, he butchered everything that stood before him before falling into a trap

A better question (to me anyway) is why do trolls have this thing about killing their gods to steal their power? It’s an ongoing plot point.

The problem with regenerative abilities is that it interferes with their ability to see the big picture. It’s like cataracts except you kill your own gods instead of sitting too close to the tv.

Troll Loa arent inherently powerful, they are just respected and revered beings. They are not unlike Japanese and Greek concepts of House Gods, beings that influence aspects of one’s life or direction but otherwise are more a symbol than a fighting force.

The various Troll tribes have felt threatened and backed against a wall since the RTS days when the Horde and Alliance became the dominant forces on the planet. Desperate times led them to seek sudden and powerful gains despite any long term consequence.

If the Loa would not protect them then they would use the Loa to protect themselves.

several Zandalari are typing…

Well.

That is false.

Have you heard of something called a “Wild God?” most Loa are Wild Gods, meaning they never die unless willingly or their soul is taken from their own control.

As for Loa like Bwonsamdi and Elune, they are obviously not Loa.

Probably the same reason that a god imbued Tyrande is so weak… I don’t think gods are all that strong in the universe of Azeroth.

The only thing comparable to actual gods in power are titans, stop thinking of loa so highly.

None of them are playing a Blood Death Knight.

Loa are truly immortal killing them is only temporary. Blizz already hinted that Rezan and Shadra will return in time. The may not have god like strength but they are very powerful.

Titans can die though and are super weak against fel magic.

Also Elune is way more powerful than a Titan. Titans cant create things from nothing but Elune created several stars millions of miles away just on a whim.

They disrupted Sylvanas for about a second.

Thats a major acheivement against the Queen of Plot Armor.
