Why are Kul'tirans so Tall?

I don’t mind Blizzard giving us different human models then the standard ones, but the height of the Kul’tirans makes no sense.

They are even taller then draenei females.

They should have just been made more bulky then the rest of the human models, while not making them super tall.

What do you think?

something something “closely related to vrykuls” something something.

really it’s to make them look less… round…
and the vrykul bit is an excuse to not figure out how to actually add vrykul as a playable race.

To differentiate them from other humans.

This is it.

Lore wise are their even humans taller then draenei?

Or is the Kul’tiran height just a game play mechanic.

The kul tirans we play as specifically have some drust heritage. Drust were vrykul, and vrykul are giants. But there are plenty of kul tirans who don’t share this lineage. We just don’t play as them.

Interestingly, among the arathi are some people who have the kul tiran model, but scaled down to regular human height! It’s weird!

It’s implied that the Kul Tiran ancestors who settled on the islands mingled with friendly Drust, who are a clan of Vrykul, after the defeat of Gorak Tul. That’s why some Kul Tirans are so much bigger than just regular Humans. They’re basically half-giants. Kind of like Hagrid from Harry Potter.

Some Drustic heritage… but the biggest thing is that playable Kul’tirans are not the same caste as most Kul’tiran NPCs we see… they aren’t guards or nobility. They’re sailors, soldiers, and other people who would have lots of alcohol + heavy lifting work. That’s part of why they’re hulking huge and have body builder bods. All that fighting, drinking, and lifting.

They SHOULD have stuck with the storyline many of us assumed about the Kul Tirans we play in thinking that they are a result of Drust/human interaction. But with Ion stating that was not part of their Hx the only answer is magic

Yes the kul tiran are too big vertically and horizontally for me to even consider playing them.
Until we get skinny kul tiran or at least normal human model they will remain a least played race.

Bet blizzard would make a decent amount of race changes if normal sized models were added.

Like Humans, and most other races, a body builder Kul’tiran MAGE makes not much sense…

Well I guess one could argue they could make illusory physiques since they can make whole lifelike Arcane holograms.

“The playable Kul Tirans use the fat body type. They are not intended to be a separate race, they are simply variants on Kul Tirans made because Blizzard wanted bigger and smaller models to fit the various NPC roles and add more flavor to the world. They are not biologically different from other humans.”

They could have been half Vrykul/Drust but no, they are just Humans.

OK but why doesn’t Jaina have the Kul Tiran body type?
Or any of the ruling families - the Waycrests and Stormsongs?
Foreign elite ruling class? Seems sus.

To take this further, having Kul Tirans as an allied race is silly. Just like Lightforged draenei and brown orcs and many others. There could be humans at the character creation screen, and you then decide from any of the body types - human or kul tiran - and then also pick your homeland which determines your heritage armor and starting zones (Lordearon, Kul Tiras, Stormwind, etc).

Maybe even Forsaken and Gilneans/Worgen as they are merely humans with particular afflictions. Imagine a Kul Tiran sized worgen or undead. Lol.

It’s that high calorie Kul’tiran cuisine. Did you see how tall Jaina was in the TBC mount hyjal raid?
