Why are high elf fans so obsessed with being sidekicks

I prefer to call you all “Valued Employees”

I’m organising a pizza party for you all in fact. Because we’re a family here

because high elves themselves are what the op says
they stand with humans instead of with silvermoon

I would guess that since this is a fantasy RPG Game, some people want to express all sorts of facets of their personal fantasy.

They like the Humans as the Hero, and they like having the Humans fawned over by Elves. It is littered throughout fantasy in general. It isn’t that strange - we are all Human, I think I can say that with certainty.

For them, they see Humans as the Hero and Elves as nothing more than a vessel to fawn over them.

They like being the “Humans friend” because it is almost like self adulation. Self affirmation. Sort of like making a friend for yourself, that always supports you, and always thinks you are the best.

At least some Blood Elves have turned away from the Human worship.

Though Valeera swearing herself to the Wrynn family, and Aethas searching for presents for Jaina, shows even Blood Elves are effected.

There is some serious overthinking here.

The blood elf model is pretty, for most, arguably the best models in the game, some alliance people want that with those customizations.

There might be a handful that legit has interest in the silver covenant, but I doubt it is a lot.

That’s just what I said but nicer!

Also on the other topic that was discussed here.

Wow races aren’t real (not even wow humans are actual humans), so I don’t think any derrogatory word used against a race in game is racist or discriminatory in nature, but still feels rude to simply attack the group other players might like. In the end though, Savage has been used to refeer to orcs, taurens, trolls, night elves, even worgen at some point It might, let’s separate fantasy from fiction but let’s also be decent people with other players.

Problem is, New gen players (aka Millennials and Zoomers) can’t do that.

Again, see how much Khadgar was getting slandered by the X crowd when he dared point out that Night Elves are more advanced than Trolls (fact). You’d think he accused an actual irl minority.

I mean calling an entire people savages is extremely racist. Sometimes “savage,” as an adjective, is used in a good context, as with Night Elves, and a bad context, as with Trolls, summed up by this old post.

Trolls are savages. Word of God says so:

Most of Azeroth’s savage trolls are infamous for their extreme hatred of other races, but the Darkspear tribe and its leader, Vol’jin, are an exception.

That is the Canon. Anything else - Fan-fiction, Not interested.

Not for you to decide

Ironic coming from the guy who struggles to do just that every day while posting here.

It’s so lost on you that it’s kinda sad

Yeah, it’s for Blizzard to decide, and they decided that they are savages.

Humanity was build on the corpses of thousands of trolls.

And this is why I adore the vulpera. Nobody can claim they stole the land they live on. They always been there

Might makes right, deal with it. No one holds your hand in the real world.

Nothing of value was lost BTW.

I feel like you’re raging at two different groups of people here.

Me, I can respect high elf fans who enjoy the race as background actors in the Alliance and want to explore their integration into its kingdoms. It’s the other group, who are only really interested in what the high elves can poach from the blood elves, who deserve scorn. And like Madhronir, I see a lot less of those guys than you seem to.

A loaded observation.

For the players genuinely interested in High Elves from a lore standpoint, the fact that there are so few of them means that, logically, they need to rely on their allies. That’s part of the appeal of their story. These once proud, haughty elves aren’t strong enough to help themselves and stand alone. It’s part of what makes their allegiance to the Alliance have more meaning.

A story that focused on the High Elves alone might be nice, but runs all kinds of risks as well. Namely, how it reflects on the Blood Elves.

As someone who likes High Elves and their place in WoW’s lore, I really don’t want anything to do with the Blood Elves. Midnight isn’t something I’m looking forward to. One of the most painful decisions the High Elves ever made, their home or their morals, is what led to the divide between the Thalassian elves to begin with. Midnight is going to see the elves reunite. In short, that choice they made is going to lose it’s impact.

To be clear, speaking for myself, I do get tired of the Human+High Elf team ups. If I could pick and choose narratives for High Elves and their allies, I’d like to see High Elves and Wildhammers working together a bit more often, considering how close the two groups are supposed to be. High Elves and Gnomes would be a lot of fun to explore. I could see Gnomes analyzing the blueprints for the elven constructs and trying to slap on everything until they’re walking swiss army knives.

TL;DR - Speaking for myself, I’m not, ‘obsessed,’ with High Elves being sidekicks. It’s a key point of their lore that they are, by necessity, reliant on their allies.

It’s a shame but very few people (And even many on RP servers) have no idea about the whole high elf veganism stuff, unfortunately.

This would be sick.

Most players never read quests, know little of the lore, and assume WoW high elves are equivalent to Tolkien high elves. They want to play Elrond and Galadriel. If they read the lore, they would understand that WoW high elves were conceited, bigoted a-holes willing to sell their own people for power. No one should want to be associated with them.
