Why are Havoc DH's required but Windwalker Monks aren't?

So trying to pick my shadowlands class i’m finding that 1 Havoc DH is required in a raid but more than that no because they make the enemy take 5% more magic dmg but Windwalker Monk apparently are not worth taking in the words of Icy Veins.

Windwalker Monks have a pretty fun toolkit and are enjoyable to play, but they simply do not have the numbers to be competitive right now in raids. With a solid tuning pass Windwalkers could easily be excellent with their current toolkit, but until that happens, they will be staying in the C-tier. There is just no reason to bring a Windwalker other than for damage, and they do not bring the damage necessary to justify taking up a melee spot.

Thing is they provide the debuff on enemies that makes the enemy take 5% more physical dmg which from what I can tell is a unique buff too that only they can provide, if that’s the case then why are they not as required as a Havoc DH?

dont forget those are post done for a competitive hard core team.
most of the time you will be playing with other classes that are not very well gear; not the best players etc… so if you are just going to play the game and have fun, no one will care. pick the one that make you happy not the one that make happy to your guild/team. they prolly wont bring the numbers either, some will die mid battle etc…

this game should be for fun not taking every instruction from the website and be a robot doing exactly what they tell you to do.

Kind of pointless to ask why one class is positioned better through class balance than another class with a different role entirely.particularly when balancing passes aren’t done yet.
Some class is always at the bottom of their category.

It would be a better topic for one of the class forums or even the raids, dungeons, and scenarios forums.

To answer your question from a mythic raiding perspective, Brewmaster is looking like the best tank in the game so 90% of very serious groups will have one. Also mistweaver is looking like a strong choice and quite likely to be in a raid group.

Melee spots are always quite limited so you want to take the strongest melee classes possible.
Again this is early mythic raiding where team comp matters, pugging and casual raiding doesn’t require such special team comp. That doesn’t mean that put leaders won’t expect silly things.
