I am leveling an Enhance Shaman and I am in the Broken Isles (level 108). Many mobs will hit me a couple times and my life bar drops down close to death. We are wearing mail armor. Shouldn’t that help a little bit to reduce damage? I swear it seems we are more squishy then cloth wearing mages and warlocks.
I felt pretty invincible leveling. Just use earth elemental when things get out of hand. Earth shield and a few insta heals mixed in your rotation really help… and don’t save your defensive. Use it early and often.
You prefer Earth Shield to Lightning Shield?
Can use both if you want. Earth heals you when you get hit, and Increases the amount your self heals do. If you want to be less squishy… it will help.
Earth Shield and Nature’s Guardian are helpful talents. And be prepared to add Healing Surge into the regular rotation as a Maelstrom Spender over Lava Lash. I think too many people wait until their too close to death to use it. Feel free to use it at 80% if the enemies aren’t close to death.
Heh ele felt squishy too. Face tanking everything.
But rogue is way worse having to use your self heal every pull.
Get used to it… it gets worse and worse.
As a healer I notice certain specs are tough to heal. Retribution Paladin, Rogues, Enhance Shamans, and Shadow Priests are all usually harder to keep alive in dungeons then the tank. I groan when I see all 3 DPS are these classes.
I don’t feel squishy at all in most content.
I could do with some being able to reliably do more damage, though…
Enh just is super squishy. You’ll be healing yourself A LOT more than you should, and def more than any other class, except Havoc DHs, they don’t have a heal to cast and only rely on Soul Fragments. They’re stupidly squishy until you get about 410gs, then they’re fine.
Ele is stronger than Enh for solo survivability, and Resto is FAR better than the other two, survivability/solo wise. It’s just kind of crazy that you have to spend maelstrom to heal instead of dps, as a dps, nearly as often as you can…
Jeez no class is squishy while leveling, getting beat up by quest mobs is a player issue not a class issue. I have leveled up several classes and with shaman having earth elemental it was one of the easiest.
Leveling as enhancement is great. Lots of heals and tools and if things go south, earth Elemental totem is fantastic. Its max level where enhancement is terrible. So enjoy the ride to 120, then go elemental or resto. Enhancement is bad for pvp and pve at max level.
level with WM talents
in legion, we were A LOT squishier (and also hit harder). it was extremely annoying.
now we are meh hitting and meh hard to kill.
you need to, sadly, use your heal during your rotation and keep earth armor up
because in Legion at that level it was very squishy before 110. I don’t think it changed much even after scaling was put in.
It gets better though once you get used to playing, but yeah, like the other guy said, when you need to survive, don’t spare your defensive cooldowns.
Honestly, the only reason I went Draenei when I faction changed was so I could have Gift of the Naaru for some extra padding. Everything helps these days.
because they took away all of enhancements healing it used to have and didnt give anything else in its place.
I have all of those specs at 410 or higher ilvl, they are very good at staying alive. If they are dying it is the person behind the keyboard not the spec. Ret also has a ton of healing, and shadow has a good amount too. Rogue has crazy defensive.
The problem with Enhancement though is even at 410 ilvl another class, like Ret Paladin at 410 can outshine enhancement, most classes get better sooner, but it seems enhancement needs hefty gearing to prime up most of their DPS.
mine is ilvl 406 and fares pretty well, but I notice having two ilvl 400 weapons really affects my output.
Yup, bad at pvp for sure. Especially bad at 1v1. I’m not a great player and not a bad player, but I usually win 75% of duels… This xpac I think I’m winning 1 out of 10.
