Why are Drakthyr just human and elves?

I’m honestly really surprised we’re only getting human and elf looks for the Drakthyr all things considered. From a lot of WoW lore, the dragons have taken the forms of most races from the Horde and Alliance so I’m actually really confused on this.

For instance Chromie, she’s chosen a gnome as her second form. Ebonhorn as well. Yes, he was raised by Highmountain, but it’s still a form that ISN’T just a human or elf. Even then, since this race is going to be Horde and Alliance, wouldn’t it make sense for the mortal shape to represent the side they’ve chosen?

I also made a post similar to this. I agree it should be open to all races. They can keep the dragon form, height build and everything but the “humanoid” race should be able to be any of them (except for worgen). it would be so cool to be a Gnome or a Dwarf with crazy color hair and horns and dragon scales!

that would be cool. I wouldn’t ever make use of it though. I would likely just stay in dragonform.

That’s fine I feel because it’s all about player choice, ya know? The option to be able to walk around in either, representative of your faction choice I feel is a big deal to player expression.

And Blizzard said they wanted to make these race customizations be able to represent the player’s identity and what better way to do that by allowing more races to choose from for the humanoid form!?

because they are the most played races . . . yea no I think its an exclusively meta reason. Lets see what they have to say on the subject lorewise though.

True, this really is a wait and see kinda thing… Although there is a smidge of hope. Remember when the fans got Blizz to make Zandalari Paladins playable?

In my opinion, Drakthyr is poorly executed, they look more like lizard people than dragon people. Too thin and lanky and don’t really embody what you would come to think of the power and strength of a dragon.

There shouldn’t have been a dragon based race added to the game, instead they should have made lore of existing races becoming initiates or “invokers” of the dragonflights. That way you could have a Tauren, Elf, Human, Night Elf etc with customization options for horns, spikes, claws, scales, sails, etc.

It’s a good idea but poorly executed, in my opinion.

I posted about this on another thread but it would be nice if they let players choose races from their chosen faction. Something like how we unlock Allied Races or pick covenants. As a Horde player I may pick a Troll, once picked I would get option to make a Troll character look. Those looks would not have access to the dragon customization like scales, horns, wings, or tail. Just normal Troll options nothing fancy. Players would still have the option to use the Drakthyr skins if they like. Something like this would be a good compromise for people that want to play evokers on other races.

Did you not see the “10,000 years ago” or pay attention to their origins? Or is this just an excuse to be pouty?

I think it will start with humans and elves and then move to more races in time.

It would be cool if they could use any of the races model (well some might need to be blocked, like Mechagnomes). This would give them a diversity that no other races has but it should also be something you don’t get to change once you make a decision. So no changing your “humaniod” form’s race every other day.

I mean trolls existed 10,000 years ago right? I’d think that makes sense enough.

they wanted to show off their new fashion scales…

but being serious here now, i hope they get the option to change their humanoid appearance to look like any of the races of Azeroth it would fit well with the fact that they are Dragons and Dragons have always been able to hide their Dragon appearance from the eyes of the mortal races.

Because Blizzard think only NPC’s get cool stuff, and players can get like 1/8 or a “compromise”…

But the only worthwhile ones learned to wear shoes and became elves

They really should make the dragon form a bit beefier, though.

I can see this being a thing. I think they’re not done with adding things in the expansion yet so probably won’t be a 2022 release.

It would be great if we could pick which ever race as the humanoid form instead of being stuck as Yet Another Elf.

Blizzard didn’t want to make dragon customizations for every race

That’s why it’s only 2
