I’d highly recommend not taking Circle of Life & Death. It shortens our DoT durations in exchange for faster DoT damage. The problem is that our DoTs are already pretty short in duration.
The more I look at it, the more I think the talents should be organized around 3 general areas.
Either build into Fury/Full Moon, Stellar Flare/Incarnation(but no other DOTs), or Summoning. With the class fantasy being Space Mage, a very strong feathery turret, or temporarily summoning Nature’s servants and fragments of Primal deities to aid you. Both the first and third one appeals to me on a very base level and the 3rd one is a bone for the META hounds and World Firsters.
Why does balance event have 2 dots. Just make it one and double the damage\make it aoe. Just a waste of a keybind and global…
Like really does anybody actually like pressing 2 dots every fight one after the other. They dont have synergy they dont do anything interesting you just have to keep them both up. Very boring, at least with old school balance it was just moonfire and insect swarm only on single target fights that would last a decent time.
Like our dots hit like a wet noodle because we have all these dots and passives, just merge it into one imo.
I think they should ditch Sunfire and bring back Insect Swarm as an endless DOT that stays on a target for 8-10 seconds and then switches to a random target you are in combat with. Then talent it to increase damage taken or decrease damage done or summon some huge predatory bug that just punches a hole in the target.
Sing it. Treants don’t even chase players. They’re busy standing still being rooted.
Newsflash!! That’s not treants, those are just trees…
…
I really like the death nature magic of mushrooms, roots, vine and rot. Feels a lot more druid than orbital laser beams and smashing things with the moon. But that’s never been WoW druid. Blizzard is too #Brave to use standard RPG archetypes for a damage dealing druid.
Yeah. I understand that, so I’d never ask to like… Remove it.
I see a Stonehenge Druid, worshiping stars and moon on one hand, and Dark Druid cursing souls who wander too far into the sacred wood with poison, rot, and locusts on the other.
Too me, I’m bitter because it’s been too long imbalanced toward the stars, that Earth and the danger of the wild is virtually ignored by the current design.
It’s also worth noting, Blizzard fired the first shot when they REMOVED the Nature component on Wrath and renamed it Solar Wrath to go stumping the moon bears.
I also quoted part of your post, when this would’ve probably made more sense to quote:
I believe those three don’t recognize a harmony that could happen between the two archetypes above, and the idea “Summoning” always makes me cringe – in part because pet AI is horrible but also because a Druid summons aren’t like a warlock or hunter summons, and I’m not sure that difference is well explained in the term.
When I say “summon”, I don’t mean pets. I mean the wee beasties appear, do something and then go away. Like the Goldrinn charge for Starsurge and the Faerie Dragons for Moonfire. Though I like the idea of an Ancient Green Dragon appearing randomly during battle and breathing on things, kinda like Prince Malchezar does for Warlocks.
My thought. Instead of summoning a dragon, how about an ent of war? While we are at it, how about going to the mists version of force of nature? 3 ents on a 30 second CD, when summoned, root and shoot out a little wrath that does 45% what our wrath does. Percent can vary based on tuning.
With the dot emphasis I don’t understand why they didn’t give adaptive swarm as a talent option. I just can’t do stellar flare. A casted dit that hits for 1 akd does seven damage over seven years. No.
