Why are dh defensives rng?

Since i’ve been on this class i’ve noticed that this class has what can only be described as pretty much rng defensives.

blur- Increases your chance to dodge by 50% and reduces all damage taken by 20% for 10 seconds.

So in other words literally the dk honor talent that they have up almost 100% of the time

Darkness- Summons darkness around you in an 8 yd radius granting friendly targets a 15% chance to avoid all damage from an attack. Lasts 8 seconds.

The key word in both of these being the word “chance”.

So in other words there is a chance you might take no damage and there is a chance you might just get clapped through the defensive like you never pressed anything.

Which half of blur is only really useful against melee anyway against casters you basically have divine protection and thats it your just taking it the rest of the time.

Where as every other class actually has some kind of gaurentee that when they use a defensive the damage will actually stop cause its a % based just flat damage taken reduced by so and so ability dh does not its purely in the hands of rngjesus as to what happens to you.

So in summary it appears this class is just a glass cannon except if i wanted to play a glass cannon i’d just play warlock or something that doesn’t need to get spammed in melee range with cc in order to play. And the last place a glass cannon should ever be is in melee range but here we are.

a 2 second reprieve.

Both on almost 1 min cds and usually i have to save some of them for the healer.

Is that the honor talent your talking about?

it only says 20 its divine protection with rng 50% chance so 50 50 chance you might get rekt through it by melee or 50 chance you might just turn into ultra instinct and take no damage at all from melee.

oh you just don’t know how to use glimpse then. You can extend if to almost 5 seconds if you do it properly.

Fel eruption is 30 seconds?

Yes yes i know if your running that hero talent in the aldrachi tree if you wait like 2 seconds and use it again you can use it a 2nd time.

It still doesn’t really seem like that big of a deal though pretty sure most of its uses come from avoiding big telegraphed hits like a chaos bolt or cc or something else.

Doesn’t blur also have a fat damage reduction on it too?

Edit: looks like it’s 20% but that seems like a lot for a 1m cd imo

No, you can extend if with double jump and glide.

It’s just a skill issue. Good players know when damage and cc is gonna happen and can completely dodge goes with blur. If your good at the game it’s one of the best defensives in the game.

Mhm i just tried that and we’re talking 1 maybe 2 extra seconds in the air of 35% dps reduction. Unless you do it from a height.

The dodge component of blur goes completely out the window if you ever get stunned btw. Which is another major weakness of this class being you cant use anything at all while stunned unlike almost every other class in the entire game.

Meant glimpse

You can get it to a 5 second long 35% damage reduction+ cc immunity. The cc immunity is the important part.

If you ever fight a high level DH like Mvq that glimpse talent starts to become really obnoxious. So good when used right

Pretty sure dh blur is the only omnidirectional dodge ability in the game

I’ve never considered DH darkness to be a bad defensive. Not sure why you’re talking about it like that, or blur for that matter. Both are really good.

Can somebody please start playing the saving private ryan clip or my rifle from U.S Marines every time i run into a mm hunter with blur on cd.

Its really good if rngjesus is on your side. If he’s not its rough i’ve been sitting in dark at times and getting lit up still like im not even in it.

Most of Glimpse uses come from avoiding CC with it, avoiding casts with it and also getting 35% DR during it. Its a 20 sec cd man dhs are practically spamming it. Its insanely good, not rng at all.

Blur is also very strong, dhs rarely die during blur unless they use it at like 5-10% and even then its likely they wont die. Its a very short cd as well, 1 min cd. Dodge chance increase is pretty huge, but it also gives DR.

You also have netherwalk, 3 min cd full immunity, not rng. If you dont want the immunity you can opt into auto blur, which is also really good.

Then you have mobility, one of the more mobile melee in the game. Good for both survivability and offense.

Then you have Darkness, which is a teamwide defensive, and while it does have an RNG component, it will -always- slow down damage regardless, just depends on how much.

DH has no issues with living at the moment. You could also opt into fly in pvp talents for extra survivability, most dont need to but its there if you do need it.

might be because it’s a remnant of the fads at the time when DH was released. Loot boxes and other gambling mechanics were all the rage and I guess that baking it into a defensive kit profile didn’t work out so well

I don’t think dh needs defensive buffs but I do think your post was well-written +1

The dodge component scales with versatility for some reason, so it’s like 80% in pvp.

What dk honor talent? Bloodforged armor??
To get value out of that you need to not lress deathcoil, which is super detrimental to your damage.

It’s 50% in pvp. Yeah the rng is dumb, sometimes it absorbs 13million and no one presses anything, other times it eats two melees and misses the 6million aimed shot. Kinda dumb tbh.

You also have passive magic damage DR vs casters as well as glimpse, which is pretty insane.

Nah, there are a lot of squishier classes than DH and it’s GOOD that dps can die.

I wouldn’t call them rng , more like all the defensive coolies need to be popped preemptively , if you have no trinket and they hit you with a big dog stun and pop their coolies. You’re donezo

Divine protection is 15% for 8 seconds. Blur is a better defensive not even close

Oh right so just simply begin playing 5d chess with the enemy team on the exact global they are going to press a cc on you.

And if you mess it up by 1 second welp nice knowing you its time to flop.

Like imagine a rogue just step cheaps you like i think if your not an ai with perfect reaction time you are not glimpsing that.
